    98 GTR--R value

What is a low mile (under 1000) 98GTS-R worth?

High 80's. Any thing more is over paying. And it needs to have ALL the extra's that come with it. Too many people like to keep the camera and other stuff.

Wow, the interior on that car is ugly.

    That CAR is ugly...

Every one I have seen was listed for 6 figures. His ad says he will resist it for $125,000 in the spring. I have no doubt he will "eventually" get it. Just like ocean front property they are not making any more of these. Clean Gen II's in general are getting hard to find, GT2's are even rarer. That said it is a car that you have to want as it very unique with its blue interior and wing. Not something that appeals to everybody. You have to appreciate the car for what it is. The only Viper I would want with that wing.

A good friend just picked one up with 20 miles on it for $85,000. So I wouldn't pay more than $85,000 for this one.

Besides the ugly wing, interior and harnesses, what does this viper offer over a regular viper performance wise?

Wasn't it +10 horsepower? Probably because of the smooth tubes?

Very nice car. I always liked the GT-2 Viper. From seeing these cars sell on auction in the past I would say the 80-85k range is a fair price with all the documentation and very low miles. It all depends how bad you want it.. I would think this car would only go up in price considering they only made 100 and this car has very low miles (needs to stay low miles to help with value).

So basically Dodge "riced out" a viper and charged more money for it?

    Taken from the Viper store:

To publicize this achievement, Chrysler built 100 street-legal 1998 GT2 Championship Edition Vipers. It will be painted the same way as the GTS-R, with an aerodynamics package of fascia dive plates, black sill ground effects, a front splitter and rear wing. An enhanced powertrain (see the ACR description) raised performance to 460 hp @ 5200 rpm from 450 hp @5200 rpm and increased torque to 500 ft/lb at 3600 rpm from 490 ft/lb at 3700 rpm.

Special badging and graphics include a "Viper GTS-R" banner on the windshield and hood sides and an American flag appears on the upper quarter panel with "FIA GT2 Champion" underneath. 18-inch Michelin MXX3 tires and unique 18-inch one-piece wheels complete with a chrome Viper snake head logo on the center caps complete the visibility options.

The interior is black with blue accents on door inserts, bolsters, and the center console and parking brake. A dash plaque highlighting the commemorative series and vehicle identification number (VIN) is mounted on the center console. The interior comes with a five-point restraint system, identical to the restraint system used by Viper Team ORECA, the France-based factory race team that captured both championships. The retail price was $85,200 including destination.

Nothing fuglier than a spoiler on a GTS. It's the fastest way to knock $10K off your car's resale value, and pay some aftermarket parts distributor to help you do it.

True story...unless you're driving the real GT1 race car, the spoiler looks fugly

So you answered your own question. Whether you like the fugly stuff added to it or not, it is what it is and it will always be what it is unless people think it is otherwise.

So is the car an investment? Someone bought this new in 1998 for $85,200

Now there trying to sell it for $90,000

Not exactly a great investment to have the car sitting around all those years taking up space and looking after it in a climate controlled garage.

Friend of mine Neil has the no 52 GT2, I've been in it, its a lovely car, but these are not the sort of cars you want to go modding.

And for the record the interior is nice when you see one up close, that blue is a little darker than in those pictures.

Seems the car now is no longer listed? Someone buy it?
