MOPAR Extended Warranty question/opinion on new gen5

Just bought a gen5, yay, now dealer is offering a 5/60,000 MOPAR bumper to bumper to me for $1900. I've never done extended warranty,I tend to mod my cars, or not keep them much more then 3-4 yrs. but he's saying if I don't have a claim at the end I get the money refunded from Dodge, if I sell I get it back prorated.

I know opinions vary, but looking for thoughts.

$1900 seems like a steal, I though they were for much more than that.

Modding shouldn't be an issue for that one, seeing as your powertrain is 5y/100k - this would cover electronics, etc which IMO is well worth it.

since you got a great deal on the car anyway, would be well worth it.

It is a selling feature when you go to sell it.. But if your going to mod your car it could void it

$1,900 seems like a great deal for peace of mind

He said list was about $2600, he's offering it at the $1900. I'm really liking this dealer.

I searched quite a bit when I bought my last few Chrysler MaxCare warranties and I haven't found a dealer that sells them for a lower price than these guys (link below). If anyone finds them cheaper somewhere else please let me know! If you have any questions just give the guy a call, I can't remember his name but he's always nice and very informative.

Friends of mine just bought a new Jeep for their daughter. They got the EXACT SAME warranty from this dealer (link above) for almost $1000 less than what the local dealer quoted them.

Dman, if your thinking of keeping your viper past the 3/36 warranty than yes, get one and that price seems pretty good. (Keep in mind your paying to extend the factory standard warranty. They have lot's of plans, most cost effective is with the $100 deductible. You will be able to buy one from chrysler as long as you are in the original 3/36. As for the no-claim refund feature, I've never heard of that and frankly I would find that hard to believe if its' a chrysler warranty.

As for mod's, most rational dealers and chrysler take the stance of did the "mod" cause the failure. For example if you put headers on your viper and the transmission fails, they'll fix the transmission. Good luck, Mike

Thanks for posting this link! We just bought a Jeep GC for my wife and the price on that site is like you said a grand cheaper than what my selling dealer quoted me. I'll definitely be buying with them.

Thanks. Gotta love the VOA forums, such a great group and great info and resource sharing. I'll check this also for my wife's new '14 wrangler rubi.

Double and triple check the "money back if you don't use it" as that might sales speak.

When I traded in my 08 in on my 09 ACR I was able to cancel my MAXCARE on the 08 and get a prorated refund on the unused portion.

FWIW anything under 2k for the MAXCARE on a Viper is a no brainer to me.

My ACR is covered until Dec 2019.

I got the extended for my Ram2500 for 1000$ cheaper just by telling them I didn't want it in the finance office. They pushed it on me and I kept saying I don't want it. Then the manager came in and said "What if we give it to you for 1000$ less?" Sure I'm sold now.

If you pick the $100 deductible, do you have to pay that $100 during the normal 3/36 and 5/100 new car warranty or does this apply after those warranties expire and the extended warranty picks up? Just making sure.

Chrysler standard 3 year or 36K mile warranty has to be used first if the part is covered, then you use the secondary coverage - so if covered no $100 deductible. Purchased the policy for my 2004 great insurance.

Got my money's worth out of it on my 2008, bought a 7/100k MaxCare for my 2013 as a result.

Another plus is they are transferable to a new buyer...one time. That's a nice selling point.
