New Owner - Los Angeles Area

Just picked up a new 2014 GTS last month and I'm very impressed with the car, excepting the dead battery and week in the shop because the passenger door kept popping open by itself. I have about 1,700 miles on it now and I'm thrilled with it. I just spent the last four years driving a C6 Z06 which was a pretty good training ground for the Viper. I'm hoping there are a few people tracking their Gen V's around here - Willow Springs, Buttonwillow, ACS - so I can see how other cars do. I'm signed up for Buttonwillow Jan 17/18 so I've got that going for me.

The Viper is my daily driver and I intend to drive it about ten to fifteen thousand miles a year and tracked....a bunch.

    HI Michael
Welcome to the VOA and Southern California Viper Club. Congratulations on your 2014 GTS. We are planning quite a few track events for 2015 so stay tuned. A bunch of us will be going out Friday afternoon to Buttonwillow if you would like to run us. If you need any help or questions on your Viper let me know. I'm up the road in Thousand Oaks. I'll be sending you some info very soon so you can access and post on the SoCal Forum.

    Cheers! Glenn

Thanks! Much appreciated. I'm not sure when I'll be going up to Buttonwillow and I'm used to just getting up a four and driving up the morning of. But I'm sure looking forward to it. I also may want to talk to you about the dealer situation here although my assumption is that there just aren't enough Vipers around for them to get really good at handling them. But there will be plenty of time for that.

Congrats Stig, and as a new member you can buy a set of Corsas for only 1550 thanks to the work our illustrious leader , the Honorable Maurice Liang. With all the miles and tracking you will be doing the Pirellis are a super bargain for members and the best all around tire for track and street you can get. Membership gives your the ability to buy up to two full sets by Dec of 2015. Just friendly advice from a guy who tends to use up alot of black donuts over the year.

The tire deal was a strong motivator to join the group. I go through two or three sets a year.

Thanks. If you still own the C6Z then I'm sure you know how different it is from the Viper. I have 2,000 miles on my 2014 and it's a pretty radical car.
