Thanks for all the kind words. Really made me feel better. You forget how much they are part of your day till they are no longer sitting there. I got a daughter on the way in a couple weeks. Wonder if the wife would let me incorporate Walter into a middle name somehow.

I've always wanted to get one of these dogs. They are rare and often a little socially awkward with other dogs but all around great pets. It sounds like you gave walt an awesome life and I'm sure he was happy that you were there for him in his last few peaceful moments. It sucks they don't live longer but 13 healthy years is a good number.

My thoughts go out to you. I'm choking up just thinking about losing our own dog.

I'm also proud to be a part of a group where there are
so many dog lovers who understand that they are a part of our families.
    Good on you all!

Really sorry to hear this, I feel sorry for the people that will never know this kind of companionship from these animals. I've lost several and I have never gotten over one of them, RIP.

The one best place to bury a good dog is in the heart of his master. May he be in your heart forever. I feel your loss and wish you comfort at a time of grief.

We will all be together once again soon enough.

    RIP

sorry for your loss. Dogs are family. You have them as a pupy, see them grow up while developping a strong bond and when it is time they leave a big void. I lost my dog 2 years ago at the age of 16 and it still hurts.

Thanks again everyone. I am not saying it doesn't sting a little still but we all are doing good. Our other dog has not been eating much right now but she is also getting twice the scraps. Kinda sad story here though. I used to give the scraps to the greyhound in the dog bowl and let the other dog eat off the plate. Well now when I put the scraps in the dog bowl the other dog won't eat it. She knows that food was for Walter. Also greyhounds are known for having poor teeth health and Walter was no exception. He had many missing teeth in his later years. Well when he would drink water and eat half of it would go on the floor. So my house is a little cleaner now. Just getting used to our new life. No plans yet for a new pup but we have a away of finding stray dogs.

My Condolences. We lost a friend in our family here earlier this year. Her name was Jewels and she was a 14 year old Golden Retriever. Her mind was young but her body couldn't keep up anymore. It's good to know they lived long happy lives.

Had to make a hard decision today and my best friend is being put to sleep tomorrow afternoon, I'm gonna miss him

He's Got bone cancer which started in his right front leg but sadly is spreading, he's a Mastiff cross breed and weighs in at 95lb he's only 8, but sadly i'm seeing the decline and there's nothing else i can do now

FB18 So sorry to hear it. our boy Murphy had bone cancer in his left shoulder and it's so tough knowing there's no good treatment options for it - i'm sure you're making the right call for Lenny; when it's time you just know. thoughts go out to you too.
