    Share your peak G's

Thought this may be an entertaining exercise to see how close we are to our cars limits. (while we wait for supercharger news) Also may be interesting to see how different setups (tires etc) play in.

I'm sure many of you will have some extremely impressive (and humbling) readings!

Model: '13 GTS Track Pack (all stock)
    Driving: Street
Suspension & Nannies: Street Mode + Usually on

For comparisons sake, with same driving I struggle to hit 0.95 lateral G in my ctsv coupe. I feel way more comfortable in Viper going fast.. Also I dont think I've hit ~1.3g forward acceleration in any other stock car ..

    From the road course:

I think the highest acceleration I've seen on track is .77g and I'm pretty tame on the road.

Nice numbers Bruce ! Is that maxed out due to telemetry or actual numbers ?

Also for reference these are the readings from the Motor Trend testing:

Thanks....that's on the stock Corsa tires heated at track temps where they become grippier than you might be able to get them on the street. That's maxing out the car's telemetry, but peak g's actually go quite a bit higher using a stand alone data logger.

Those Motor Trend numbers may be from skidpad and slalom testing where they didn't get enough heat into the tires, or where the driver just wasn't able to push it comfortably on a track. Where did you find that shot, Lokien?

I was a tad disappointed to see that 1.5 lateral was the highest the car would record as I maxed it out as well and was wondering what the actual numbers were. What were your actual numbers on the stand alone data logger Bruce?

I've recorded just over 1.8g peak in cornering. I wouldn't place too much importance on the peaks though as they aren't really representative of what the car is pulling as you could be holding 1.30's through a constant radius corner and suddenly a 1.6 blip appears in the logs and then 1.3's again. It's an imperfect measurement.

I reset the car's G Meter back to zero before each track day. The value for me is being able to see how dialed in I am relative to other days, with 1.5's more the norm for my home track, and more like 1.20-1.40's on tracks I'm less familiar with. 1.5 peaks don't come easy, and some days I haven't recorded that even on my home track. It might not even be possible on cooler days when the tires can't heat up as well.

That makes sense; thanks for sharing! I had a GoPro directly on my instrument cluster with the g-meter up so gonna have to review it and watch for the constant measurements. I'll share some videos once I have a little time to go through everything.
