The Gen 5s saved as much as around 100 pounds over the Gen 3/4s...an SRT Track Pack would be the lightest, followed by the TA and then the GTS from the info I've seen. Most Gen 3/4 weights I've seen have been in the low to mid 3,400 lbs range, with the Gen 5s being in the low to mid 3,300 lbs range.
Can you imagine how light they can make it still with an ACR version? Possibly in the 316x - 3260 range or even lighter depending on how hardcore they want to take it.
I agree with you on the thought that went into the weight of the car. To have a car with a steel frame and a huge V10 weigh in at the lightest 3297 is simply sound engineering especially considering the additional things they had to add that were not part of the Vipers portfolio before like TC etc. Yes the CF is a main reason but they had to think about that before finalizing the build lol.
Its especially of note considering the trend of the newer cars being significantly heavier than the outgoing models a la Z06, Porsche TT etc. Even a GTS fully loaded is still much lighter than the Z06, Porsche etc. Gotta give them a lot of credit especially on those fronts.

It wasn't just a matter of changing out the body panels to CF. You also have to remember magnesium firewall and composite intake manifold, probably lots of little things to save weight.
Pretty impressive considering the added content, eg. interior electronics, leather appointments, wider front wheels, traction control and knock sensors etc.
