Awesome read, my favorite plane by far. Here in Omaha we have one on display as well in the SAC air museum.

I just read "The Sled Driver" and it was awesome. I don't believe I've seen on in person yet, but really want to after reading.
There was an SR-71 variant in Seattle but I didn't make it to their Museum of Flight when I was in town.
I have the Sled Driver book too. great read if you are a fan.

Good article . The Dayton USAF Museum also has one along with a Valkyrie . The ICBM there was quite interesting .

Fun fact: Though it was built at the height of the Cold War, most of the titanium in these planes came from the Soviet Union.

Here is a Plane from 1957 (7 years before the SR 71) . Flew at Mach 3 , at 66,000 feet . Called the Avro Arrow. Every part was made in Canada . Unheard of these days .
