Tribute to Ralph, his team, and the neighbors grass

We all want to go faster - trust me, I know - I am a current record holder on Bonneville Salt Flats (1950 Vincent Black Lightning at 145.804 mph), and I ALWAYS want to go faster. Having said that, the Viper offers an incredible engaged drivers experience, that is just out of this world. My Viper is the (faster) Orange TA. To me, it is all about what it FEELS like to drive the thing. You want something faster (the neighbors grass) - get the the Porsche Turbo S, push the launch control button: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5DRCTW-Q7o - what a joke, if you think you are the faster driver. I am keeping the manual, thank you very much.

I was in love with the Gen5 when saw it the first time, and now I own one! It is great, that we have people like Ralph Gilles and his team, that have the drive, and the desire to build on the heritage of the Viper. THANK YOU! Not sure you heard me: THANK YOU!!!!!!!

It is a shame that the people that drive Porsche's etc. did not "understand" it, and start buying it - but guess what, it is not that unusual (Vincent comes to mind) that a great vehicle goes unnoticed but that does not take away from what the Viper is. I truly don't care if the launch control in the Porsche Turbo S can beat me.

Would I want a faster Viper - sure - 800 HP comes to mind - just saw the ACR at SEMA - great stuff. My orange TA still looks better though.

So where is this rant going............ Enjoy the moment (I am driving the TA in the Sierras tomorrow) - hope that a new ACR is faster on the Ring (below 7 minutes) - told you - we all want to go faster!!!!!!!

My thoughts and experience exactly...well except for the fact that while everyone can't miss the orange, the black TA is actually faster!

Black is a great accent color - faster is is not (Note to self: better go practice).

Just do the launch thing 62 times. Then their "turbo" car won't be able to keep up with the naturally aspirated viper.

I didn't buy my car because it was faster than (fill in the blank). I bought it because it's mechanical art that gives me a stiffy when i drive it. Could care less about what else is out there or what's coming next. I'm happy with my hand built super car and to constantly compare it to everything else under the sun just takes away from my own satisfaction with the car. Not everyone can appreciate the viper but then again not everyone can appreciate a good single malt scotch either.

We love our Gen 4 ACR. I have not drivin the gen 5. It is a piece of art as are vipers to me. I love the "Exclusivity" of them also. I don't [pay any attention to the negativity on the web about the viper. If you look around, you can find just as much on every single other car and brand out there. Everybody has an opinion. Im VERY exited to see the new ACR come to life. I cant wait to hear the specs on the car. Oh BTW, Ive always heard SSG "IS" the fastest color. LOL Im very thankful Ralph and the team did what they did. Long Live Viper.

While it was the Gen V that came along with the right goods at the right time for me, I can completely see why those who had fallen in love and bought a previous generation Viper. They are all very special. We plan to stay in a fairly new car for our long distance road trip plans, and may go for an ACR for some track use, but otherwise I think we's be happy driving any previous gen. I imagine all gens give you 90% of the unique and rewarding Viper experience, with the last 10% being preferences for features, performance, vert or coupe, ect. I just can't see any other manufacturer's model or new Gen Viper enticing me with a slightly better performance stat unless I was just ready to make a change anyways. Could care less about stuff like 0-60 times, and never did. The Viper is a car to lust after on many levels, and I find most cars just aren't. We each need to appreciate what we like, and let others with different tastes do the same.

I have come to the realization that the Viper is the best kept automotive secret. Misunderstood by most, but cherished by the few have discovered this secret. As others have said it is a work of art (as all gen Vipers are), and also quite accomplished at the track.

We may not dominate against an AWD machine in a stoplight dragrace, but the Viper is often the fastest at a road course. This is the venue the Viper was designed for, and it kicks ass. My Gen V is usually top three at any given track day, and with Hoosiers it's able to compete with all but the most modded cars. And the guys that run fastest often express respect and admiration for the Viper and it's high high limits. People are amazed what a stock Gen V can do on the track.

Loving this beast! Thanks Ralph, Erich, Graham, Mark, Tim and the rest of the team that made this dream machine a reality and continue to support Viper Nation.

I agree with all the above. I hope they have a commitment to making the ACR and continuing the viper heritage and future. I know the car needs to be more successful from a sales stand point, but hopefully not too much because I love the exclusivity of the car.

Some good comments here. Viper's have always been street legal race cars to me. If that changes, I'll no longer be interested in them.
