I'm waiting to see the next gen CTS-V. Also like the new Z/28 a lot. C7 Z06 didn't grab me at SEMA, it simply doesn't have the curb appeal of a Viper. For a beater, the new BMW M4 looks fun. R8 looks more sexy than a Gallardo. Saw a bunch of Huracan at the show, they also didn't stir me much. Most will mistake them for a Gallardo. 991 GT3 Porsche looked sweet. Aventador are still amazing to see, I never get tired of them.

Gen I, Gen II, Gen IV ACR, Gen V Viper, Hellcat Challenger, 1969 Mustang Fastback, replica Cobra, New Z28, GT500 Mustang.

Keeping it within my realm of reality.

I'd like to get into a Hellcat Challenger in a couple years, and I could also see replacing my Dart Turbo with the Dart SRT as my daily in a couple years. The Viper stays though! There was a new 911 GT3 at my C&C this morning, and it is a sweet car!

Totally not in the market for a DD replacement for my '97 Nissan D21 pickup, since it's way better in every way than the Aventador J that my neighbour keeps trying to give me... *cough*

There really wasn't second-guessing getting a Viper, but for a little while I'd looked at a Lotus Evora, Jaguar F-Type, Ram R/T, or Alfa Romeo 4C.

    BMW Z4M coupe
    SRT magnum
    Aston Martin ???

I have come to the conclusion that just about anything can become fast with enough money, so I don't care about having the fastest thing out there. The Z4M is a pretty rare car, the Aston for the pure beauty of it, and SRT magnum because it is just weird. I will always have a viper in the garage.

I would also like to restore a VW corrado one day. It was my wifes favorite car growing up and it would be cool to get her one someday.

2015 F350 6.7 SRW Crew or 2015 GMC Sierra HD 3500 6.6 SRW Crew. Need something to replace my 7.3 Excursion for trailer duty.

I briefly contemplated a used 2012+ C63 AMG before buying the Viper.

I have the 2015 F350 4x4 DRW 6.7 Crew Platinum for a tow vehicle. Around 875 torque stock. Drives like a car. Very happy with it. As a matter of fact, my wife drives it. Great truck.

Since I recently totaled my ACR and did some car shopping I looked at a variety of cars. Of course ultimately I decided getting my dream 96 coupe was what I needed to do right now. But cars I looked hard at were (in no particular order): F430 Ferrari, Aston Martin DBS, Gen V Launch Edition, 2006 1st edition Viper coupe, continuation 427 S/C Cobra, 1971 Plymouth 'cuda convertible, C5 Z06, 2004 SRT-4 Neon, Hellcat Challenger and taking the money and performing a full restoration on my 1972 Challenger.

I ultimately figured it would look bad if the president of my region didn't own a Viper any longer plus I figure a lot of those other cars still have some depreciation to go and that the 96 GTS is at about the bottom of depreciation. Plus the 96 I purchased had all the right modifications on it for me, especially the 3.54 gears.

Congrats! And well thought out on your purchase!

Thanks! I have spent a lot of time in the past researching each car and of course even more so once I found myself in this situation.

I'm interested in your logic/math regarding the 96 GTS being at the bottom of depreciation (I actually think the bottom was 2-3 years ago and now they've started to come up). I just recently got one too...partly out of fear that I'd get priced out of my dream car if I waited longer. Not saying it will go all Ford GT on us, but I felt I couldn't take that risk. Not because I would have missed out on the "investment", but rather that I'd never be able to own one because it might get so expensive that it wouldn't be reasonable for of person of my means to buy one. Of course, that would be motivation to work harder, or work smarter actually. Anyway, I'm glad I did buy it, even though I've put myself in a financial hole (temporarily...I hope). In a way I hope it doesn't go bananas expensive because then I'd have to consider selling it...and I can see myself owning this car forever, it's that awesome.

No math involved really. I have been involved in the classic car hobby my entire life and have several friends that have collections of "investment grade" cars, so between my discussions with them and what I have been witnessing in the market I feel confident the '96's won't be dropping in price any longer. They may actually be on a slight up tick from a couple of years ago, but not by much. I agree I don't see them doing Ford GT prices anytime soon, but most likely one day. I could have picked up almost any other year GTS and saved a decent amount of money, but the 96 has always been my dream car and I feel that even though they made so many of them they will always be the most valuable aside from say the 98 GT-2, and a handful of other models.

Thanks 72Hemi...and I agree with you, based solely on anecdotal evidence of other Viper owners saying to me that "If I could do it again", or "If I ever get another one", etc, it would be a 96 GTS.

As a side not, the collectibles are usually the cars that very few people wanted when new...so a B/W 96 RT/10 may fair very well in the years to come.

Have fun with it! NoCal has some amazing roads...as long as your not stuck behind a slow-poke on Highway 1.

The SRT4 neon still catches my eye. Always been a great looking car to me. Had two in the past.

I have had two of them so far. I bought an Electric Blue 2004 brand new and after that had a Commemorative Edition White/Blue stripes '05 after that. Still miss my '04 ;-)

The new Mustang GT350 looks amazing - Ford did a knock out job. Dry sump too?

I agree. That's a sweet car. If they are 550 hp, and sell for slightly more then the Boss, I see a Track Pack version in my future.

Whatever Ian Callum designs tends to catch my eye. After much automotive soul-searching, during which the wallet had the final word, I went with a Jag XKR-S instead of a P-car, GTR, and a couple other favorites. It's a true GT car, and available with some pretty steep depreciation removed if you find the right one. I've driven mine for a year now, and it's been fantastic.

Neon SRT 'alum' here too. I had my 03 for ten years; just sold it this spring. I don't think the world will ever have another car that matches that car's character.
