Gen v carbon brakes almost ready

Here is a first look at the carbon brake package I am working on for the Gen V Viper.
I should have the first set on my car for the NARRA event at Sebring November 21st -23rd.
They will be 15" front and rear using the factory calibers.
    Thanks
    Wayne

    No
This set up will work with your stock wheels
I am also planing to do a set with 6 piston front calipers and then 15.5" front rotors they will require 19" wheels

Rear suspension is different on Gen V IIRC

    Gotcha'.

I am assuming these are full floating rotors. If that's the case. the rotor would ride on the wheel hub bearing.
Does any one know if the Gen 5 wheel hubs are different than Gen 4?

Sorry for going a little off topic. This would be a big improvement on my Gen 4 track car. Thx

The caliper sits towards the front of the car on the Gen 4 and for the Gen 5 they moved it to the rear. Slipping the rotor onto the hub isn't going to be the issue, moving the caliper out to allow for the bigger rotor probably will be. I'm guessing the brackets that they have developed for the G5 to allow this won't work on the G4 due to the changed location. If they develop brackets for the G4 then I see no reason they couldn't be used. Now, if they are using a stock sized rear rotor just in ceramic then this would work without any issues IMO. From the pic, they have the front figured out and that should work on either Gen. But, unless you are doing enduros there's not a huge advantage in going to CC's.

    Thanks. Makes sense.

One of the guys I track with has a carbon edition Z06 with the CC brakes. We go to basically the same number of events and usually run within a second or so
wherever we go. Last year I went through 3 sets of rotors compared to his one set not to mention they ran much cooler.
I realize driving styles are different but like I said, our lap times are very similar.

Looking forward to seeing if they will work.

Looks good for the Gen 5 guys. Unfortunately I'm not one...... YET

Don't carbon brakes run a lot hotter than steel brakes? Will all of the factory seals and so on in the original calipers hold up to the heat?

In track use, and depending on pads, YES. They can run much hotter in some situations. So a big-brake-package / calipers built around CC rotors will likely have titanium pistons and/or vented pistons, and upgraded boots-seals. and CERTAINLY have SS lines, not rubber!

At a minimum, if you switch to CC rotors in standard SRT calipers, you should consider Titanium Backing Plates on your pads for ADVANCED track use with aggressive pads, to help protect OE boots-seals-pistons.

WAYNE: Id even "SPONSOR" a set of Titanium Backing Plates for the PartsRack Grand Prix Official Pace Car.

I'm excited to see a vendor investing time and energy into the Viper as that is rare. I know I posted it earlier in this thread, but I want to say it again. I really would like to see what you could do with the carbon interior parts. If they look anywhere near as good as the aero and these brakes, you'll have plenty of customers.
