    Dead battery related questions

Got home tonight and found battery is completely dead. Car is an 09 ACR so battery is 5 years old but has not had any issues until today. Can someone tell me which direction to turn the key in the lock below the driver's side mirror to unlock the door? I recall reading that you have to turn the lock while simultaneously pulling up on the door. Is that correct? Also what CCA battery and brand do people recommend?
    Thanks for any input.

Not sure what direction to turn the key but as far as a battery goes I would get the DieHard Platinum Series for your car Put the same thing in my Gen IV. Little bit expensive but totally worth it. Car starts like a champ now.

    Turn the key clockwise.
Not sure about lifting up on door. I just tried my key, and while it takes a lot of force to turn, it unlocked the door.
I use Optima batteries on all my cars and boats.

I have an optima red top. Is that not the OE battery for vipers?

If you push in on the door it will unlock a LOT easier. The first time I used my key I thought I was going to twist it off before the door unlocked. Just put pressure on the rear of the door .

Check out one of the battery threads, that question has been hashed out to the fullest. The synopsis will point you to the diehard.

NO. OEM battery is a Interstate battery I believe.

This, best battery. Turn the key in the lock while depressing the door latch, and it should pop right open.

Odyssey makes the Sears Die Hard Platinum, this battery is stronger then the stock one , part # 34-PC 1500T was $247. from Amazon delivered by UPS or go to Sears and have them install it . Note you can see the Sears logo from the back if you care.

Installed a Sears Platinum AGM battery. It went bad in 1 year. Was driving around the country on the Cannonball One Lap of America and every time we stopped for gas we smelled rotten eggs. Finally pulled into a Motel and car would not start. Thought a battery cable was loose, pulled the cover and the battery was hissing and case was bulging. Had to go to a 24 hour Walmart to get a battery. I was afraid the battery was going to blow up so I pulled it out of the car and set in down 30 feet from car. Sears refunded my money even though I didn't have the old battery to return I only had the receipt from Walmart for the new battery. Good customer service, bad battery.

Keeping the battery connected to a battery tender or equivalent intelligent charger (not just a trickle charger) is recommended for long term battery heath.

While you're changing the battery, might as well upgrade the cover to the DSE quick release aluminum version! Available with and without the hard mounted charge connector / wiring.

You'll really appreciate getting rid of the bent piece of steel OEM cover and longer than necessary torx bolts. Works great for times as mentioned above when you need to get to the battery in a hurry.
