    New rural Kansas owner

Howdy folks! Viper newbie here. Just bought a white 96 Gen 1 RT/10 but I gotta be careful where I drive it. Lots of gravel roads around here, and the little pavement available is pretty rough! Sure wish this thing had real side windows. That 6 hour drive home from Dallas wore me down a bit!

Welcome to the VOA, your closest regions are either Crossroads of America or Oklahoma. The KC region has chosen not to be a part of the VOA. We do not hear from them much, so not sure what they are up to. Is yours a blue striped one with white wheels.

    again Welcome

Yep - it's just factory white with blue stripes. I'll post pics after I finish mods.

Welcome! Welcome! Welcome! What part of rural Kansas are you in? Where ever you are, you are more than welcome to join us in the CoA region anytime!

That would be a heck of a drive! But you'll never forget it!!!

Eureka, Kansas, USA. 60 miles east of Wichita. Joined the Okie club because we rarely go north but often go south. We will be spending a fair amount of time at Hallett

No Bruce you can not have him............. He is mine!!

Just kidding, we will take Good Care of him. We will be at Hallet next week and again in two weeks. My goal is to bring him to COTA in December and Hastings in June to meet everyone.

    Welcome Matt!!!!

Tech question that is prolly not appropriate for this thread: I bought a set of 2010 wheels and new stock size skins for them, which are 18 and 19 inch wheels. Any known issues with putting them on a 96 RT/10 that came with 17s all around? Looks like the rears are a little taller but the fronts are the same.

Invent, welcome and congratulations on your RT.

A lot of people have used wheels from Gens III, IV, and V on theirs, without issue, and they all look great.

Just made my first vigorous acceleration pass in this thing. I can see why so many Vipers get wrapped around telephone poles! The new 600hp cars must be like driving on ice...

What style wheels are the 2010 you bought?

Was this high speed pass on the original rubber (from 1996)? Not a good idea to do any spirited driving until you get the new tread installed.

Bought the polished 2202's. I handed the local tire guy a printout from tirerack.com and asked him to order some new skins. He thought there must be a misprint. Not a lot of 345/30-19 tires in stock around here....

I would recommend you have your Tire Guy call Luke at TireRack ( ext. 4362 ) as he will likely steer you towards the Michelin Super Sports. That is what many of us recommend, as decent price and high quality tire. If you decide on the Pirellis would suggest the PZeros over the Corsas ( Corsas are more expensive and really more track oriented )
