Hello everyone,
There is a Black Gen 2 GTS in my area with 11.5k miles for sale for 30k.
I believe it is almost 100% stock! does this sound like a good deal?
if it has a clean title then yes
Average selling price is 35+ isn't it?
or higher...
jump on it
Not a good deal...great deal with that mileage. If it checks out, jump on it. What color is it?
Sounds fishy
Black, it was on there for 34k a couple days ago and it just dropped to 30k. Seems like the guy is desperate to have it gone.
If the car checks out clean then I'll be the 1st to say...
"Congratulations on your Viper!"
And where is your area? It's important to tell you what the value is. I will be sure to tell you what I paid for it. Lol I paid 35k for 98 Gts with 29k miles back in March.
If you want more help, we need to see pictures...include the exterior, interior, engine bay, tires, exhaust under the rear or side pipe exit. We'll be able to tell you if it's stock and based on the current condition whether it's been abused.
Screaming deal if the car is clean and damage free. Call your insurance agent and then make the deal.
As many have mentioned, price is real good for an 12K miles car. However.... like anything, you need to check it out to make sure it is what they say it is.
A few things... what year... Gen 2 GTS does not really narrow it down too much. Also.... "almost 100%" does not tell us much. What have they changed? Engine work? Lowered? Brakes? Some of these things if done right, augment price. Some reduce.
If you are going to take the car have it checked out by a good inspector. It does not HAVE to be a Viper tech. If you have access to one great... if not... a good inspector will help. They will check for repairs, frame & suspension integrity and engine concerns that can be seen from outside the engine. (seals, oil pan, valve cover, ect) Check if recalls were needed for the year and if they were done.
In the end, deals can be had, I got my car for $38K in 2012 with 37K miles.... single owner, final edition. It is all relative to why the seller is looking to move it.

Not enough info to make a decision without seeing the car in person. No history on the car either. They all sound good on paper.

I have not been able to get ahold of the guy yet. But it is a 1997 I will see what other info I can get when I get in contact with the owner.
The color is a tip off, this car was repainted. For some reason I remember seeing on line a 97 Black GTS for sale earlier in the summer with a salvage title for 30k.
If it is a 1997, car was re-painted. Car needs to be checked out top to bottom. Put it on a lift, look it over thoroughly.
As was mentioned... if the car is a 97 (that's in doubt as well now) then it cannot be black unless it was repainted.
Rather than give you the fish.... here is HOW to get your fish... http://www.theviperregistry.org/build.php
The int'l Viper Registry is a good repository of data on the cars. You can float around in there and see build history, info, options and other details. Good to have. You can also see how rare/common the car is, relatively speaking.
I would dig up the VIN and confirm it. see what you have there.... might be a 1999 or newer.... never know.

Thanks everyone for all the help it is greatly appreciated. I will keep you updated on any new info that I find out.
Just finished speaking with him he said it has never been in any accidents. He is claiming that the previous owner just wanted a black Viper.
