Would a Gen 5 X-Brace help on our cars?

Would a Gen V style X-Brace work or help for our cars? Is it even do-able in terms of hood clearance? In terms of looks, would it look cool or poser-ish? I really like it on the Gen V and was wondering if it had been done on our cars.

    What do you all think?

The X brace is nice for a bit more chassis stiffness and a good marketing tool for the Gen V intro, but it would take some creative doing in the custom installation of the mounts etc. on a Gen 4. Not worth the work and fitment IMO for the benefit on a Gen 4.

I think it would be a good addition to the Gen IV cars, not poser-ish in my opinion, but unfortunately it is not a direct bolt on part. I looked briefly into an adapter setup but there is not really a great place at first glance to tie into the chassis.

Would not clear the intake and hood, would have to be an x brace with a box frame around the intake.

The prototype for the Gen V brace was put on a Gen IV, so yes it does help. The question is, does the Gen V's brace physically fit under the hood of a gen IV?

Just my opinion - I think that any car that has a brace like this is an answer to an engineering (or lack of) issue. It looks like an afterthought/fix.
If my Gen IV had the brace I would remove it, even if it was green - LOL

From an engineering standpoint (I am NOT an engineer) but my thought would be it was not an afterthought for a soft chassis, but a way to make a chassis stiffer without adding weight or crazy expense. At least, that is what it seems like to me. Rather than beef up a metal frame (heavy) or go to a full CF frame (expensive) they added a CF X-Brace.

Thanks for your answers. I think it would look cool on a Gen III/IV but figured it would have clearance issues or someone would have done it already.

Damn ACRUCRAZY, you shut me up. Guess it has been done. I have that book too so I can't believe I didn't see that.

The Gen V one is sexier looking I think. Good to know it works in concept. I wonder if Autoform will make one

You guys do realize that most of the actual race cars out there use these, don't you? They are definitely worthwhile to have. Many cars even use more subtle versions, with 2-points across a strut tower (Camaro SS, CTS-V, etc..). Good way to increase stiffness, without adding a lot of weight. A truss is better than making the frame 2x thickness to achieve the same result.

Comp Coupe has them too. Do people ever do any research before posting anymore?. Like Nineball said, most race cars have them.

I guess I knew dedicated racecars use them. I was more wondering if a straight bolt on application would do any good. And if anyone was making one. And my assumption was exactly that, nine. That it would be stiffer without weight.

Sounds like there is a small market for someone to make a aftermarket brace.

    Might be interested.
