    Question Trans tunnel getting HOT

I have done a few mods to the ACR and it seems to have negatively effected a few things. It is a long story but I will try and do the readers digest version... Bought a '09 ACR with Hennessey 650R package on it, it had 500 miles on teh clock and to drove like glass, no vibration, exhaust was loud but nowhere near what my Gen2 was...

SO I get a lead on some actual ACRX items, the trans cooler and the diff cooler. I jump on them both and have them installed along with Woodhouse engine and trans mounts and a MGW shifter. Vibration was horrible and the stem of the shifter was heating up bad, so was the tunnel in the car. You could feel the heat with your leg. Swapped the Woodhouse mounts back out for OEM and vibration and heat still there, took it back again they said they shifted it a bit and vibrations were reduced 90% and heat was all but gone. Didn't worry about it again.

Today I picked the car up from getting a BBG GenV clutch & HRB installed and from the advise of many I left the OEM engine mounts in but installed the Woodhouse trans mount only. Vibration is damn near unbearable in all gears from 1800-2200 RPM, 5th gear is very noisy, 6th is only slightly less noisy, and the heat in the tunnel is back bigger than ever. After a 1 hour drive home on the highway, no high speed or chance to try out the new clutch, right under the ball of the shifter I measured 106*, tunnel by your knee measured 117*, tunnel by my hip 118* and inside the center console by the lighter it was 115*.

Could I have a bad mount Woodhouse trans mount causing all this vibration? This heat was not normal before, are you guys seeing anywhere near these temps INSIDE your car? I stopped for fuel on the way home and my trans/diff cooler fan kicked on, these shouldn't kick on unless I'm at the track or in extreme heat. Its 80* outside here in Texas, dang near winter weather.

Is there a insulation blanket that may have not been re installed on the trans? If the trans mount is bad or misaligned would it generate the vibration and excessive heat? I'm lost here folks. Any advise?

If the shift boot (rubber one) was torn it would let in lots of heat. Trans mount can't really be "bad" it sounds like you have other issues. What other mods are there?

Only mods to the trans is the BBG clutch, BBG HRB, woodhouse mount, MGW shifter, ACRX trans cooler, and Motul fluid.

Would a torn boot heat the entire tunnel? The passenger side was not warm, only the top and driver side. I didn't take temps on passenger side tunnel area because it was cool to the touch.

Other mods to car are the Hennessey 650R package with cat delete, GenV intake, MOPAR PCM, ACRX diff cooler

You're going to have to get under there and look. Bad header connection? Missing heat sheild? Are all the under panels in place and under damaged? Pictures could help if you don't see anything obvious. You could also put it on a lift cold then run it and feel for a source that is blowing heat at those points.

I'd check and make sure everything was put back in correctly and TIGHT. I have the same setup and have no issues. Did they put the preload plate on your trans mount? As for the heat check your header and exhaust gaskets

I went through this and had the car in the shop for over month trying to figure what was wrong after a vibration developed from 2100 to 2500 or so. Long ass story short, I pulled the Woodhouse tranny mount and the issue was gone with the installation of the OEM mount. I still have Woodhouse motor mounts. I would suggest starting there for the vibration issue.

I installed a 2010 ACR-X transmission a couple months ago, along with new Spec clutch and AL flywheel. This transmission has always been hotter than the stocker that was in it. That all said, it is not getting as hot as yours.

Think we are going to start with deleting the Woodhouse mount, this is the second time this issue has started and the second attempt at using the woodhouse mount, can't be coincidence. The heat issue we are working on...

Toddy I'll call you this morning and see about checking a few things before we take it back to the shop.

No preload plate that I know of. Nothing came with the Woodhouse mount other than the mount.
