I don't have cats on mine and never have smelled anything.
Bought the car with 500 miles with the 650R package on it already. Not sure if previous owner deleted them, but glad he did, saved me the coin.
Agreed- can't smell any issue with cat delete. Honestly I don't think my car or your car is very loud either. Myth busted!
It gets pretty loud at WOT. I like it that way.
I had cat deletes and Corsa on my Gen3. Sound was incredible, everybody loved it. But the smell was not worth it at all. I like taking it out to dinner sometimes or wherever, and after 5 minutes in the car with that side exhaust you just stink.
Definitely stinks without cats. As far as no cats vs cats and backpressure - the Gen 4 cars at least don't need backpressure for torque. I'm running 1 7/8"headers and had no cats and 3" the whole way which is essentially the biggest exhaust from the head to the exhaust tip and doesn't lose torque. The car was up over 30 ft-lbs of torque even at 2k rpm. FWIW, mine is making over 700hp (crank).
