Who has a Skip Shift Solenoid for sale?

Mine was getting weak, and I think it finally crapped out on me (figures, right after I got done changing the oil). I tried the unplug/replug thing on the ECU, going to check if that worked in about 5 minutes. Any sponsors have one of these and able to get it to PA this weeK? Thanks!

Do these wear out? Mine was brand new and has not worked since we just installed it two months ago. I haven't done anything with it yet. Should call the supplier and see what to do. New Battery, etc. so should have picked it up.

I dunno, I guess. Mine finally went out when I was doing a doughnut with a friend (not even a big one, one loop, no smoke, <15MPH). I'd noticed it hadn't been working for a while, I'd never see the light anymore, but no CEL. Good riddance; if only there was a way to permanently disable the CEL for it, it'd be solid. Guess I'll make another instructional video. This is the first actual problem I've had with the viper in a year and 2,000 miles. $100-ish on parts certainly beats the heck out of what my husband spent on his C5 every year. Something electrical was ALWAYS broken.

What exactly is the symptom now that it is broken? Is it just the light not going on or are you missing now the lock out of 2nd & 3rd?

And likely the reverse lockout as well, but I haven't tried it. Jon has skip shift eliminators for sale, but I'm not sure that will fix the problem of the solenoid itself having failed, get rid of the 1417 code, etc.

I see...you did get a code. There's no chance it's unplugged somehow at the trans?

Because you say you 'need this week in PA' I went ahead and shipped US Prio Mail today. You should have it Thu-Fri.
I did not bill you. IF you find its a loose wire, just DONT OPEN it, write "RETURN TO SENDER" or "RTS" on it and cross-out your address label. It will come right back to me, you don't even have to buy a stamp.

If you want to keep it, we can settle up then.

Wow Jon, I'm on break at work now, but I'll email you when I get home. I want to settle now. You're amazing, but you shouldn't have to put yourself out like that!

You actually did ME a favor:

By rushing one out prio mail to you, I was able to notice that we only had 2 remaining. So I ordered more.

Just don't open it til you know you need it! If you discover the loose wire below as Matt suggests, you can just return-to-sender and don't even pay postage. Keeping it means you'll have to PAY ! It was zero extra effort.

Glad you helped Jon, guess I need to give you a call as you know where I bought my skip shift eliminator which has not worked since install two months ago. Light comes on and still locks out the gears.Do some of these just not work from the start? My GEN III one I got from you worked fine years ago. This latest one for the 96' RT, not so much. Oh we will fix it. Happens!

You guys are getting check engine lights? I just pulled the plug and capped it on my 94' and 98', no CEL. Why anyone would want the skip shift to work is beyond me, but if it throws a code I would think that just unplugging it would be enough.
Reverse lockout is another thing. I have a brand new one on my shelf waiting to be used if my 98' ever goes out like it did on my 94'.

P.S. The Viper world is the only place left where people like Chuck and JonB still do the honor system.
P.P.S. TitleMine, I thought that was Katherine Heigl in your Avatar, like a clip from some movie, lol.

No CEL for me, just the skip shift eliminator never worked. I think I hit a faulty one, in my case anyway.

Provided you got the right solenoid, there isn't much to them...it's just a resistor.

I have not seen one be defective, or fail after working. For Gen 1-2-3. They don't work without a CEL on Gen 4.

COLO: If yours is not obviously cracked/damaged by some unforeseen mishandling by Me, Post Office, You, or Installer Id be happy to exchange it at no-charge of course.

Slight correction...they DO work on 2008s, but not on the 2009-2010. 2009 is when they implemented the functionality check in the PCM that would set a code if the solenoid plunger didn't plunge when it was supposed to.

Thanks Jon! I didn't want to make any big deal out of it as you always stand behind your parts and have always helped out in the past.

I will find some time to pull it off and look closer, send back, etc. It looked perfect out of the package so I don't think there was any mishandling. Just didn't work so maybe a wire pulled loose inside a connector or something.

The reset of the mass of parts I just bought from you were "A-Okay" and car is in fantastic shape with only some very small items to fix, replace, Unitrax Quaife diff/3.55 gear rear and a Paxton left to be done. Car is better than new now. Enjoying the hell out of this one. I think I like it better than the hoped up GEN III coupe I had from new. Wife likes this one better as well.
