Very strange statement becuz the C7 Vette electrically engages all 4 calipers as a parking-emergency brake when car is stopped. Supposedly NO mechanical handle to pull, no cables and NO E-calipers! A weight-saving feature.
I had a C7 Pace Car at Road Atlanta this spring, and the E-brake is an electric button/switch, which makes me wonder if you have a dead battery while Ebrake is ON. you cannot even roll the car ?!

Cable is an interchangeable term between electronic and mechanical systems. We in the auto work are used to cable referring to a mechanical line. But don't we also refer to the wires on the back of our TVs as cables as well? Just a bit of ambiguity on the part of the author. It's as important for an electronic cable to be fully seated with all pins in contact as it is for a mechanical cable to fit correctly. There could be a defect in the cable that prevents it from full connecting to the brake assembly or control computer.

E brake on a switch gives me the creeps. I (and I bet all of us) have seen switches fail for no reason. I remember installing some KC lights a few years back and the switch failed the instant it was installed. I don't like that the new 4x4s are going to only switch activated. On my 04 ram it was an option, more expensive one at that, to have the switch but I went for the lever. Which is still vacuum actuated so not truly completely mechanical but I like it better than a push button.
Am I being a curmudgeonly old timer by saying it should be a direct cable on the E-Brake? Anyway, hopefully no one got hurt by the faulty set up.
