    Need your imput

I have an '01 rt/10 and the rubber sourrounding the driver's door is cut and about a 3" piece is hanging loose. Is there a glue (cement) I may use to repair this or must I replace the entire piece at a retail price of about $600+?

Not sure what glue would work?

Superglue dries too hard and leaves a white residue.

Have you tried the Viper Salvage route? There are some who advertise on here.

Im not sure if he has any left but 'King Snake' breaks the odd car now and again, I remember he had some rubber door surrounds, but they might have been from a GTS? I can't remember But it might be worth a call?

+1 on the salvage parts. Cheaper. Good condition and the repair will never be the same as the replacement part.

There are a few Scharf is one and the other is X2 builders.

it sounds like the door stanchion needs to be replaced. there is info on the interwebs if you search "viper door stanchion"

unless you actually mean the weather stripping ?

This might be apples/oranges since I'm not sure exactly the piece you're referring to, but a 5 inch piece of the outside weatherstripping against my GTS's drivers window (back, vertical edge) peeled off and was a dandling in the wind.

I carefully applied some 3M "Super Weatherstrip and Gasket Adhesive," part number 08008, cleaned any exposed adhesive, and it has lasted the past 6 years. You can only tell the repair if you look for it, as the adhesive is black and dried flexible.

    A bit less than $600...

I'm trying to envision where this area is on my RT/10. Can you post a pic of it? If it's the door stanchion area with the weatherstripping embedded into it that the window slides into then the entire stanchion needs to be replaced. I'm not sure if that's the area you're referencing.

Could you post a picture of the repaired area so we can see what it looks like and a Pic of the product?

    Many thanks.

The product is a 3M adhesive, called "yellow super weatherstrip and gasket adhesive" product number 08002. It bounded in about 5 min. Great product and easy to work with.

I suggest 08008 for any exposed areas. It is black.
