Turning Off the Seat Belt Chime

This may be old news, but, the seat belt chime can be turned off just like most CC vehicles.

    1. With the start button in the off position, fasten the seat belt.

    2. Put the start button into the run position.

    3. Very quickly, open and close the seat belt four times. (three times is supposed work also, but, four seems to work better)

    4. Leave the belt latched after the last cycle, then, index the start button to the off position. The chime should now be off. If the sequence is successful, you will hear an acknowledge chime when you go to the off position.

Is this something like a permanent toggle, or does it reset each time you start the car?

I like this, thank you. With harness on at the track I would run the seat belt behind the seat and latch it. I had planned to cut the buckle end out of a scrap car to plug it for track time.

Permanent toggle - it worked on my 2012 and 2014 jeep, so I decided to try it on my Viper, it works.

If you do this, how do you turn it back on? Same sequence?

Worked on my Ram a few years ago too.

Same sequence or pull bat power. This is how SRT got 5 hp more in the 2015.

I remember doing this on the older gen Vipers I owned, I thought however that this didn't still work on the new Gen5. Can you confirm? Anyone do it on a Gen5 yet?

That is the basis for the thread - it works on my G5.

Can you do this on Gen IV? I religiously wear my belt, but when you are checking on installs etc. around the hood, it would be nice to shut that thing up.

It also worked on my 2010 and 2012 jeep. Just a guess, but, yes. Some Time it Takes A Couple Of tries. The key is the acknowledge chime when you shut it off.

It didn't work for me on my '08...not sure if I'm doing it wrong or it just doesn't work on the Gen 4s.

This is from the jeep forum:

Here are the steps to deactivate the chime (picked this up from another forum, should be in the owner's manual, too):

    1. turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, and buckle your seat belt while sitting in the drivers seat.

    2. turn the ignition key to the ACCESSORY/RUN position (engine does not need to be running), and wait for the seat belt warning light to turn off.

    3. unbuckle and then re-buckle your seat belt at least three times within 10 seconds, ending with theseat belt buckled. then start the jeep. (i don't know if starting is necessary, but i did it)

    4. turn the ignition key to the OFF position. A single chime will sound to signify that you have successfully completed the programming.

Jack.. I got it to work, chime is off. Just sucks that the fasten seat belt sign shows up every time you take off from a stand still.

    Thanks bud!!

This should be in the install instructions for Teamtech! Thanks

I went ahead and bought these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/151382267571...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Although my seat belt alarm/chime was off the light stayed on until i had a buckle in the latch. I have a buckle I used from a RAM truck and it worked for when I use the harness, but thought these looked better than teh junk yard part. If you buy some of these there are cheaper ones but they ship from China, some taking over 6 weeks delivery time. These I found ship from teh US with 5 day delivery. If they work I will let you know. The dimensions are a bit off from the one I have used but for $10 it is worth a shot.

That seatbelt chime shutoff has worked in every Chrysler I've ever owned. I think it's listed right in the owners manual.

All you do is go to a dealer and say you need a seatbelt extender. Aka fat guy belt and you are good to go and the best part they are free thats $0.00. No chime no light

They did work somewhat. Initially worked fine but the hole in them is big so when I took a hard sharp turn I must have moved it because the light came on. After a second turn it went out. Not the best solution. The junkyard buckle form a RAM truck works great but is bigger. These that I got are like the size of a credit card.

Thanks for reviving this thread. I must have missed it and no one ever scolded me for the dinging that I have to endure on my track day goPro vids warm up laps.
