Looks like I might have to fly in for this one, I'm sure it'll still be fun.

Are there any hard dates for the event?
09 ACR With all the goodies
99 ACR TT 99 red RT/10 Roe S/C
97 B/W RT/10 TT 94 RT/10 TT
I can't wait, it's just down the road for me!
The event has been planned out to great detail - this will be fun.
Registration will begin next month. Hang on to your butts...
Keep us fed with info on this one!!! I simply must attend.
Hopefully - the "door prize" concept will be reconsidered and be turned into a more inclusive raffle for the entire membership.
I realize that the chances of winning a raffle are slim, and when I was a member of the other club, the thrill of that raffle was exciting and a nice side benefit. Which is why I disagree with the door prize "suito-raffle" concept for NVE1. It surely was an exciting thing for those that could attend - but completely left out all those members that could not attend - for whatever reason. It's my understanding that the same is being considered for NVE2 - and while I can only speak for myself - again, great perk for those members that can attend - but completely leaves out those members that would like the thrill and opportunity to win an ACR, but can not or choose not to attend.
Certainly we have the membership numbers which would support a raffle that would actually meet the minimum number of tickets sold. And while it could be a money raiser for the club - it also could be a great fund raiser to support a charity/charities. After the expenses for the raffle are covered, donate the funds to charity. Just my $0.02.
This isn't an either/or. I know while the prize is a car, somehow the perception is that a door prize is being done instead of a raffle. They actually have nothing to do with each other.
First off, we would do a raffle - we just don't have a way to do one at this time and ensure that we do it legally. Others may be doing one, and I'll apologize for saying it's illegal, I don't want to discourage anything that's tied to the Viper. I wish them the best of luck. We'll keep our eyes open for possibilites. It's not an "I won't", this is an "I can't". Enough said.
As for the door prize (and not sure why you put it in quotes...), it serves a different purpose. It is part of an event. It is not a fund raiser, it's not something that requires solicitation, and you don't buy tickets to earn it (that's a raffle). It's instead something ridiculous we're able to do to make the event like no other, we wanted to do something over the top that no one else had done. Our budgeting allows us to do so as the VOA doesn't pay people to arrange this massive event, so we applied some money toward doing something bigger for attendees. If you're going to come so far - you want to see a LOT of vipers, have high quality, get special treatment, and get killer free stuff (which includes gifts, smaller freebees, and a shot at a car). Only the VOA can do this because of our size and financial standing, we want the feeling of "special" for all attendees.
So, if we were giving away frosty mugs as a door prize, this wouldn't be an issue... However since it is something more substantial, it's still no different, and it's not fair that the benefit to those attending NVE is diminished if we simply let people buy in. And again, we can't let people buy in (because then it's considered a raffle for us). The car is part of the cost of the event and only legally allowed to be awarded to those who take part in the event.
This has been explained by others a few times, but hope this explains it better.

The strife just never ends in the Viper club world ^^^^^^. Just keeps on keeping on. wow.
Alex explained it truly extensive & friendly - nothing to complain :-) - just change your location under your avatar Alex!
Good luck to everybody who is attending!
Shooter! Well put.
SOOOO much water under the bridge here. Rocket, Shooter Granger, we all get it. It's been 2 years. You're not happy with the VOA for any number of reasons regarding how we how operate our association, our website and forum. You've even gone so far now as to complain or advise us how to run our events and facilitate free cars participants! Seriously, WHY?
It's not that we're particularly interested or disinterested in consolidation or how the alternative club operates, it's just that WE DON'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT IT FROM YOU FEW non-associated members ad nauseum. Please take your operating advice and especially your incessant need to "misinterpret exploit" forum posts in order to rankle discord (along with the circle jerking mutual self support posts) elsewhere.
Here's EXACTLY how we feel:
2008 SRT10 Open Roof (1 of 2)
2022 BMW X5M Comp
Resident Misanthrope
Actually. I believe I was pointing out how the Nat VP was keeping the drama up between the 2 clubs with his (now edited) post. If you wanna be a jackass about it because I pointed it out, that's on you sunshine. I'm not interested in the politics much beyond enjoying my car.
I don't recall complaining or advising anyone on how to run your events or facilitate free car participants. There is probably no one less interested in that than me. Maybe you can enlighten me.
As far as Paragraph 2 of your post goes, I had to double check to make sure it hadn't come from Kansas. Wow that' was disturbing. There was no malice in my request to conduct a poll. I was just curious to see if the general membership agrees with the position taken by management. If that's the general consensus of the whole, then that's that as far as I'm concerned
