    Gen III Throttle Body Preference?

    Hi everyone - search feature hasn't turned this up, but feel free to close/redirect if I missed something already out there -

    I'm wondering if any of the aftermarket throttle body setups for Gen3 are worth the install - mostly interested in throttle response, with HP gain maybe a secondary issue. I'd rather change anything that's worth changing before bringing my car for a tune, but would like to do that soon. I'm not looking for huge numbers and not doing any internals now. So far I've done K&N tubes and filters, (stock exh. manifolds) randomtech HF cats, corsa exhaust.

    any thoughts on which one to choose (or stick with OEM?) Thanks!

    I have been eyeing up the one from JTS. It looks like a nice piece. Personally I'm not a big fan of single blade units on the street. They were a pain to tune (at least in the mustang community that I have been used too).

    No problem at all with the ROE TB.

    I love it. Zero problems.

    The jtsvp is a nice unit. I've been able to handle one and install nitrous sprayers into the new variation with built in ports. It truly is a fantastic unit. Throttle seemed a little sticky at first, after some adjustment Is perfect.

    Ed do you have a tune in your car? If not do that first then throttle body. The tune will clear up most issues with throttle response in the mid range due to being too rich there. Then after that the single blade is your best bet for the icing on the cake.

    oh interesting... I don't have a tune yet and figured if I was going to do the TB i should do that first and tune it all at once... but yes I had it dyno'd last fall and it ran really rich in the low-mid and got too lean up top.

    thanks everyone else too for opinions on the units!

    Definitely get tune first. Not going to change with throttle body and that is the best bang for the buck out there. Throttle response will be vastly improved.

    what do you like about it? comparison to stock?

    The blades a little larger than stock 67mm. Has a smooth throttle response and increased the HP about 5hp. Comes with a 1 year warranty.

    Thanks, I did run the BBK at first and I dint like it my car had surges on and off with it, I do have a tune on my car and thats worth it but get all your mods on first then tune it, a dyno tune is way better than a can tune.

    You should just pick one. You'll find good and bad reviews about all of them. I've spoken to multiple vendors and some recommend the single blade while others wouldn't go near them. I'm going to be picking one up soon and I'm either going to go with the BBK or JTSVP unit. The guys over on the truck club forums have posted results for both of these and they are pretty much equal with the JTSVP pulling out a few more ponies. If you can't decide then check out the truck forums as those guys actually have results for various TBs.

    I am running the Arrow Racing single on my heads/cam Gen III. Picked up a dyno confirmed +18whp/+7wtq gain over the OEM unit.

    On the car....

    Wow, looks sick, and those seem like big numbers out of a TB swap! hows the throttle response with the Arrow?

    Yeah, it would be interesting to see what you would pick up on a mostly stock car with just exhaust and filter. I would assume 345s picked up more hp because the TB was more of a bottle neck since his heads/intake manifold were upgraded/port/polished...

    Thank you, exactly what I wanted to hear. I got a great deal on a used one a while back and wanted an idea of what to expect.

    Instantaneous. Zero lag and no drivability issues.

    A stock car would dyno about 500ish whp with headers and a tune. At that horsepower level, I was seeing about 10whp. See dyno below.

    BLUE = Heads/cam
    RED = + Throttle Body
    GREEN = + Throttle body and custom air intake

    It amazes me how flat the torques is. Usually you start to see the peak numbers pick up but that looks like it just raised the entire line.
