Extremely petty thing that erks me everytime i see it...

Forgive my naval gazing as I am overseas staring out a window at a Drilling Rig in the Austrian Forests...

Anyone care to explain WHY people, particularly Viper Owners.... Insist on calling their drop top / convertable / spyder / roadster / etc etc etc a VERT?!

It cant just be me who thinks this is some sort of pretentious way of describing your car as roofless and not so attractive as a coupe?! (FLAME MODE ACTIVATED)

Why dont these sort of people call their cars a conv, cnv, droptop, ragtop, or for that matter a "con" or even an "able"?!

Every time i see the word VERT i think they are describing a green viper... Honest to God... Vert is frenchinese for green.

(This post was designed to inflame and cause instant heart palpatations in VERT owners who are most likely 65+ and balding/bald while INSISTING on wearing a baseball cap)

You seem to be stressing waaaay too much over this.
If you're overseas staring out a window at a Drilling Rig... then perhaps your extreme boredom with be offset by a mermaid sighting soon.

Its like calling Johnny John, or baby Babe or a couch a chesterfield . Comon man, life can't be that bad that this becomes such an issue.

I say you get a convertible green viper and kill two birds with one stone.(not literally of course)

Oh , and if you find any oil or gold while drilling, save me a piece eh?

We tried convert and everyone assumed we were having a revival, so then we switched to vertible , and folks in Appalachia thought we was discussing a new wooden apparatus to sit around in the kitchen, therefore we just gave up and went with vert. Course now we have individuals that think it is short for vertical , so I vote we just go with topless ( it has so many more pleasant connotations !!!

I always understood that a two seater with no top was only a roadster. Convertible could be a 4 door or a 2 door but always has a back seat. For you people with a motor in your car, don't forget your 200 mile extension cord or lots of batteries.

Why do you go by "donk" instead of "donkey"?

    Definition of VERT
    1
a : green forest vegetation especially when forming cover or providing food for deer
b : the right or privilege (as in England) of cutting living wood or sometimes of pasturing animals in a forest
    2
    : the heraldic color green

Ok... I'm not guilty of saying it's a vert... but I've typed it. Find a shorter acronym people will understand and I'll switch - don't want the stress to kill you! :.)

We can only hope that a major drilling catastrophe doesn't result from an obsessive dislike to the word "vert". So, while we're on the subject... to the older lady in the elevator downtown yesterday... yes, that was me

    Question

@donk-ey: the Austrian forrests are not very famous for "oil" drilling...did you mean Australia?
