Dude I don't know but I'm sure I didn't do a proper break in. I was drag racing the entire way home from LA to San Diego in stop and go traffic on the 5.

Generally 300-500 miles of normal driving then fluid change before is what I suggest.

Break-in is two or three one hour cool downs after 30 min of light throttle driving, preferably, no deaccel.

I changed fluid at 1000 MI and it was dark.

Also worth noting for those concerned about break in times, REM finishing drastically reduces if not eliminates the need for break in miles as well as frees up a bit of power and allows the gears to run cooler. I'll be doing the REM ISF finish on my 3.55's soon.
