Yep. I'm looking forward to it.

I really wanted a Gen V, but for half the money I could do it this way.

I'm really not much of a Facebook guy, sort of despise that site. Can you post the info here/link it.

    I really hate Facebook.

I think you can just buy the logo from a dealer.

I attached a picture of what it will be close to. Only difference is mine will have the ACR red driver's stripe on the top.

DCT Motorsports sells them for $1500 or so with carbon fiber accents.

Or a Dodge store is about $2800 for a stock ACR steering wheel.

Cool. I work a mile away from their shop. I will stop by and check out their work.

I thought the ACR wheel was $1200. No?

Buying the Gen V through them with carbon fiber is $1399 after a $200 core return.

The steering wheel itself through Dodge is about $1200...but I would need the airbag and trim pieces...thus $2850.

    Just out of curiosity...

Doing the swap, you need the actual steering wheel, the airbag, and the front bezel. Do you also need the rear cover? Or will the Gen IV rear cover fit a Gen V steering wheel setup?

    Pedro,
In the process of doing the same. any tricks or tips installing the gen 5 wheel? also who did your carbon fiber overlay on the bezel and console?

    Thanks

Me too, to have it ready for the spring. It is all pretty straightforward, I need to take a closer look at how Pedro did the grounding for the horn and buy the bolts to hold the airbag into the wheel. I think I am going to send my new wheel off to get the red driver’s stripe added also to match my 08 ACR.

Out of curiosity does anyone have a GenV airbag or airbag cover laying around they'd part with? Doing this on my GenII. Or if someone would be kind enough to take some pics with measurements of the various profiles I could just make a cover and cover it in leather. Thanks everyone!

  13. #113
Ok the actual installation is very straight forward, you can reuse the bolts for the air bag. My steering wheel was re done by craft customs in Dfw

I have a complete gen 5 wheel and airbag available. Was going to do the swap and reconsidered.

This thread got me looking into all the part numbers... Does anyone know why the two types of front steering wheel covers are such a huge price difference between part #'s 5NP55DX8AA (steering wheel bezel with black stitching) and 5LX37AAAAA (steering wheel bezel without black stitching)?

So you can order the steering wheel with any color stitching from the dealership? Part Number 5NP57DX9AA + specify stitching color??

Reminder I still have a complete wheel with red stitching and airbag with slight indentatation and will let them go for 900 plus shipping. Pm me for pics.

I'm pretty certain your part number differ because one bezel is OEM carbon fiber, and the other is black or silver. I am not sure why there would be a comment about stitching honestly.

Yeah the description is not the best on those dealer part #'s. Thanks Parabs.

I have a quote request in with craft customs (as Cubican mentioned in post #113) to make a smoothed carbon bezel without the CC/Bluetooth/volume buttons.

What a difference that wheel makes on updating the interior of the Gen III Gen IV Cars! Well Done - That result looks fantastic!

Are all the airbags interchangeable in the Gen V's -- from year to year? I ask, because some of the part numbers are much, much different in cost. What gives?

    Air Bag-Driver - Mopar (6KE78DX9AB) Replaces: 5SH65DX9AA, 5PK73DX9AA, 5PK73DX9AB, 6KE78DX9AA

I'm in the middle of doing this and I have a bunch of wires with no place to plug in. Any help? Thanks.

After careful consideration, I highly suspect I am missing a critical piece of my airbag.
