Visit by the NC Highway Patrol

A funny thing happen today. (Kids or rather Grandkids say the darnest things)

A highway patrol officer came to my granddaughter’s kindergarten class today to give them a briefing on traffic safety and the need to wear seatbelts. After the briefing, my granddaughter was “trying” to help me out and told the officer that her “Bampy” (she could not say Grampy when she was younger…so the name “Bampy” stuck) had silver Dodge Viper and that it was very fast. Not only did she give me and the Viper up, she also gave up my other car. She told the patrolman I had an old red car (1971 GTX) that was called the “Beast”. She said it was called the “Beast” because it was very fast and very loud (has headers).

At least the teacher thought enough to tell my daughter about the briefing when she picked my granddaughter up from school today.
Later in the day a received a call from my granddaughter where she told me she help me out with the police officer and I had nothing to worry about now. In her mind she thought she was doing me a favor. I thanked her whole bunch. At least she did not say I used a radar detector while driving the Viper fast.

For Bluecoupe if you read this

To save on threads My vote for radar detector would be the Beltronics RX-65 - Had mine for three years love it. Thought I would tell you before my granddaughter did.

Sometimes Grandpas say the darndest things; Police have been known to frequent these forums also, so they know you have a radar detector now

Yeah, let's see it! I have a 69 Roadrunner! My Granddaughter is 2 1/2, so she has not ratted me out yet. However she does keep an eye on Poppy with his Viper. I came home from the store and she said "Poppy, your Viper is LOUD! Were you going fast?"

You are correct. Apparently the apple did not fall far from the tree.

When my dad and brothers were children, they were riding on my grandfathers car with him speeding. Got pulled over coming back from dinner.

"Sir you know why you were pulled over?"
"Officer, we have a calf being born and I need to get home!" (Family is dairy farmers)
    "No we don't dad!"

I remember trying to explain my need for a radar detector to my daughter when she was 7 or 8 years old. Not easy to explain why you needed to break the motor vehicle law an avoid getting caught by the police, when the "police" meant everything "good" to a 7 year old. Don't think I ever did better than wrapping up my explanation in confusion.

Great story! My 4 and 5 year old nephews call my car the "Wiper" or the "Dodge-y"

When I first got it they were so excited and told everyone "My uncle got a dodge!!!" My sister had to explain to them that nobody would understand why they were so excited unless they said it was a viper.
