    Which oil filter is this?

The side of the filter reads 05281090.

I bought this at the dealership but it just doesn't look right. I believe this is the old filter?

Some people have said they use the Mobile 1 but others say to stay away from it on the gen 3 because it doesn't have a particular feature that the mopar has, possibly a check valve? For the past few weeks I've been trying to find the newer white mopar filter, part number 05037836AB but nobody seems to know where to buy it. I had no luck on the Mopar website and when I asked the dealership they looked at me like I was speaking portuguese. Any ideas? Thanks.

No. That is a general use for V6, V8 Mopars. It will fit your Viper, but do not use.

This is the one you want. Mopar Part # 05037836AB This is specific for Vipers '92-'06. Also says VIPER on the side of the filter.

Try our VOA sponsors: PartsRack, Woodhouse Viper, or Tomball CJDR.

Lunchbox, please do not use that filter. SRT designed their own filters for GOOD reasons that have been well described.

daytonprowler has given you the correct part number...use it.

Do not use the same number that ends in "AA" as it was updated to "AB" also for very good reasons...thanks to an industry professional in our Region.

If you like, I'll bring the correct one along to C & C ...you can have it as I have plenty...presuming you ever get there again.

YUP, white Viper marked filter is the only one I use, keeps up with the oil flow/volume and pressure better than any other out there.
