Exclamation Please be careful and learn your Viper/Viper Trucks

It kinda goes without saying, but we have a huge responsibility harnessing and controlling our 500+ hp Viper Trucks and cars. Any vehicle for that matter!
It's too often someone with money, yet no driving experience, or even a simple mishap by an awesome experienced driver, causes one to lose control of these projectiles. Results are always devastating for vehicle and occupants especially in the Viper car. Just a simple reminder to buckle up and keep aware of your surroundings when acting a fool. We can replace our rides, although they will never be the same as ours currently. We can't replace your lives!!!
Share this with your daughter/son drivers, wife, friends, whomever. If it keeps one person more aware and thinking of what COULD go wrong then this message was worth my time.
You all know I love to race or take twisties, but there's a time and place for it all.
Prayers to the driver and occupants involved in last nights wreck in Houston. Another Viper gone, hopefully not a Viper enthusiast.

Sadly I think I know this car. I have met the guy once or twice at Cars and Coffee, but don't think he is a VOA Houston member. Very sad hope he is ok, and glad the passenger was ok as well.

Vipers are very safe for most accidents. Looks like the ole Runflats are on the car too.

    best of luck

Guys I am going to ask that this thread be taken down out of respect for the family. They are owners that we know and it's not a black and white situation.

Stupid owner/driver if this is true. Owners spend a ton of money on stereo, rims, wings etc and forget the most important part on a Viper. THE TIRES, THE RUBBER!!!

I had asked that this thread be taken down for a reason, you have no idea what happened and we do and sadly the usual owner of this car was not behind the wheel. Please take this down.

We just need Venomous 1 Racing or a family member (or someone directly authorized) to delete the thread.

    Dear Viper Owners,

It is with a very heavy heart that we are writing this note to ask that each of you keep club member Mike Quinnett's nephew Michael Feguson and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Michael was involved in a high speed rollover accident early this morning in his father's convertible SRT-10; is in critical condition and in surgery as we write this post.

Thank you for your observance of this request as you can imagine the family is devastated right now.

Please be aware those of you with convertibles that are "as delivered" have no rollover protection but that can be added via steel roll hoop replacements or a full roll bar.

    Sincerely,

    Houston Viper Club

Seriously? Let me call the family in intensive care about a car forum thread.

This happens. Many times. In Vipers.

Why is a - with the car (and crappy tires situation) probably not familiar young - driver at 3 am too fast (high speed) on the road...?

    A legit question.

Heads up to all owners! Don't let anybody else drive the beast. Not in the middle of the night. Not on old tires. Never.

Hope the driver can make it and will survive. A hard lesson for all involved. May be other owners learn something. I would not delete this...

Im not sure I see anything wrong with this thread. Nothing bad has been said about the driver, nor the other occupant. No one is bashing anyone here. The OP was just saying to be careful. Being a little sensitive? Prayers to the driver and his family.

I second the vote. Please remove out of respect to the family. There are other ways of expressing the purpose of this thread without dragging a very personal situation into the mix.

Ok, what am I missing here? OP posted a link to something that happened and that something was broadcast by the NEWS. Then OP posts to be careful out there. Why are we getting so sensitive over this? THERE HAS BEEN NO BASHING WHATSOEVER to the driver or family.

You're not sure, which expresses some degree of doubt. If your mom was lying in the ER, clinging for her life would you appreciate checking into your car forum and seeing her being called "Stupid owner/driver"? Then depicting the driver rolling in flames? This situation could have just as easily happened on new tires on a wet road or swerving to miss a dog. One of our own is suffering right now. Instead of gossiping about lets just send them our support. There are other ways of getting the intended message out.

Must have looked over the "stupid/driver" comment, but still, this happens on car forums all the time. Its just how we find out about things. Its whatever. Take it down. Doesnt matter to me. Hope the driver makes a full recovery.

Austin, I know you personally and if you were in the exact same situation I would gladly add some brevity to the situation for your families sake as well. It's a judgement call nothing more. Sometimes it's ok to show a little class instead of starting a discussion about rule technicalities.

This is not a normal "Hey everyone get rid of those crappy run flats" situation, which is why I asked for it to be taken down.

I'm not (nor is the VOA) suggesting the issue isn't horrific and tragic, but the author is sympathetic to the situation and his/her link is to a public news organizations report of the incident. There's no "position" taken or suggested other than it being an unfortunate and tragic occurrence.

Something to think about for the VOA.....on the Fordgtforum.com the only "accidents" posted are in a restricted members area...everything else is instantly deleted or moved to that members only area. I know we don't have such an area, but it might not be a bad idea to have a VOA members only area where sensitive subjects can be discussed or posted (not just VOA club business, but personal matters, situations, etc) that do not need to be seen by the world wide web.

Prayers and best wishes to those involved in the accident.

    George

I understand your position, but I would treat your child with more respect, but that's just me.

And you are incorrect that no position was taken the title of the thread states a position and it's an incorrect one based on the facts as we now know them.

Title: Please be careful and learn your Viper/Viper Trucks

The young man did not own the car it was not his, he took his fathers car out (with out permission) and is now in critical condition. If the thread was retitled "lock your keys in a vault while on a weekend vacation" it would make sense.

I don't think telling this story as news is disrespectful. It brings us back to reality and hopefully someone may heed the warning .Showing pics of the individuals would be disrespectful.

I hear you. Im not at all trying to argue the situation, as I feel bad for the driver and the family, just didnt think it rendered a take down, but I'll digress and will shut my mouth on the subject. Again, I hope the driver makes a full and speedy recovery. BTW, you should know me that I wouldnt be OK with bashing the driver, at least not sense he was seriously injured.

It's not a big deal, just know the guy and his brother who is also in the club and felt bad for them both. If it was the father and owner I wouldn't have send anything, situation was a little different and I just felt for them, just didn't seem like a good "teaching" moment for the forum. But maybe it is.

To all Viper Owners either Club Members or not. Do not ever put yourself in a position that someone else other than
you the owner or car caretaker can have access to your keys. Please lock them in a Wall Safe, Gun Safe, Safe Deposit Box,
or if your like me....Hide your keys so well that you can't find them for 2 years....Please remember to be safe, we are just
like motorcycles.....Watch Out & Be Careful.

    Our prayers are with you.....

Flatout, what is the difference between the article posted here or on the news website? Have you contacted them as well asking the article be taken down? I have only seen sympathy posted here, nothing negative
