My "Coolant Pressure Bottle" to "Water Pump" hose has developed a leak. As you might see in the picture, the previous owner wrapped the hose in a thermal barrier, hoping to keep the heat from the headers at bay. Looks like it could only take so much.
Somehow I managed to foresee this day coming and bought a replacement hose (p/n 4763877), as well as some more thermal barrier, however...
In the picture, it looks as though my problems would be elimated altogether if the hose came out and around of the pressure bottle below the outlet as opposed to above the outlet. the hose comes out towards the rear of the car, makes a 180 degree bend upward to go toward front of car, then drops down and angles to the water pump. I've never had the stock manifolds to look at, but I'll assume this design worked before these headers were added. Now it seems as though I'm going to be stranded somewhere inconvenient if i just replace the hose.
So, here are my questions:
Can the hose be routed downward as opposed to upward, or will this piss off some great god of hydrodynamics?
Has anyone came across an OTS hose looking to do what I'm after?
Anyone see a problem with cutting hose to flip, then adding an adapter?
Thanks for your time.
