Legendary Motorcar - ZR1 or Viper ACR

Legendary Motorcar on Velocity channel tonight. Peter's brother comes in to buy a car. Comes down between a ZR1 or a Viper ACR. Lets see if he chooses the right one.

Seeing them parked next to each other at the end the ACR made the ZR1 look like a Camry.

Great episode. Guy has a dream job - So many great cars under one roof.

I love that guy but man someone needs to tell his brother to put two hands on the wheel and not rest one on the shifter. I think he should have chosen the zr1 he seemed to want the traction control more.

2010 ACR. I thought that it was interesting that the fact that he would have to "learn" how to drive the ACR was a selling point for him. That was always a selling point to me with Vipers. I get bored very quickly with cars that do everything for me, what's the fun in that?

I have a ton of respect for the performance of the ZR1, but seems very unfair to put an ACR next to a ZR1 and say choose ... the only way I'd expect the ZR1 to get picked was if an editor from MotorTrend was choosing, lol.

Im curious to know why you'd feel like this with the emphasis being "very unfair"...

If anything these two auto makers have done a great job of providing two platforms that deliver similar performance in two totally different packages. The guy that hates the rawness of the ACR loves the blandness of the ZR1, and the guy that gets bored with the ZR1 loves the anger of the ACR

I looked to see when this episode would be on again since I missed it. Not for at least a week. If anyone knows, please post it up.

I get what you're saying and good point. I am loving my TA (and 1st Viper), but coming out of a ZR1, I can tell you theres not much not to (not) love with that car. Like the Viper, you can turn all assists off. When not driving the ZR1 aggressively, you can absolutely forget what her capabilities are, and I guess that's where boredom sets in for some.

I watched it and it was cool. I'm seeing more and more SSG ACR's since we got ours. LOL

Saying the ZR1 is bland is kinda funny. I get a bunch of crap for saying that the z06 I had didn't have any soul and had too many safety features put into suspension. Especially the squat in had on power mid corner. They do not want you to spin the car cause you have to give it like full throttle to do so unless you get it fully loaded on the side and go from liftthrottle to on throttle. And what I find hilarious is you have to drive the Viper like a race Miata. You need gas for it to turn and it will bite you for not being smooth. This is the opposite in corvettes. They are fast and will make fast lap time for regular guys but they will never have that reaction soul feeling a viper has.

Pete used to host an old show with a heavy set guy. He bought used viper from my old dealership in Az. If I remember right it was shipped to Canada. He told us it was for his personal use.
