Yep! I spoke with the owner of that car. It was spectacular. Was nice of Meguiar's to use it as a showcase car. Adam's did that with my 03 back in 2010.

The LX/LY platform is a wonderful car. My 2007 SRT8 Charger ("only" 425 hp with the odd-ratioed but strong 5-speed auto) is a fast, comfortable, and good handling car (especially for its weight), and I'm still enjoying it after 7.5 years of ownership. And now there have been tremendous improvements to this platform, not only power, but suspension, interior, etc.

People who poo-poo the cars as being crap have probably never driven one.

This is the first time the remake of the Challenger has me thinking I need to buy one! This is such an incredible machine and I absolutely love it! Hoping to see it this weekend while in Detroit.

Yes, starting price, so all in, mi-60s. Add in tax (here in PA, 6%), plus title and tags, and you're 70K out the door. That's if you pay MSRP. Now, let the dealer markups begin.

Just a hunch, but I assume a gas guzzler tax will be assessed so still $70k out the door, which is still phenomenal.

Great price! What's an SRT Challenger nowadays, about $43k out the door? To upgrade a couple hundred horsepower with full warranty seems pretty reasonable at the $60K mark.

Insurance may be an unpleasant surprise.

"In fact, the Hellcat is so powerful that Chrysler needed new dynos to test the engine - the ones used in Viper development weren't up to the challenge."

Why is it that I am feeling about this car the way I felt about my Gen II when it was out.

I don't know what happened to the price alignment for US and Canada? But a loaded SRT8 300 is 55k MSRP up here. And I think Challenger fetches a tiny bit more.

Can you imagine this engine in a completely new mid engine platform that weighs under 3000 lbs?.......

Under 3,000 lbs? If we're dreaming let's use 2,500 lbs as our benchmark, both are just as likely to happen.

That would be more faster, maybe the most fasterest.

Released some numbers, 0-60 in the mid-three's and 199mph top speed, 11.20 on street tires and 10.80 on drag radials.............not too shabby for $60K plus taxes, fee's and dealer mark up's.

    10. You can’t put a Hellcat engine in a Viper. You shouldn’t want to.

For those wondering what Chrysler’s most-powerful-ever engine is doing in anything but the Viper: two different animals. The SRT people describe the Viper as a track car you can drive on the street and the Hellcat as a street car that can go to the track. The Hellcat engine and attendant cooling weigh about 180 pounds more than the Viper V10, so you can stop right there. But if you haven’t put down your shoehorn yet, know that the Hellcat V8 is way too tall to fit under the Viper’s carbon-fiber hood. So just don’t.

And anyway, the sensible thing to do is buy a Challenger Hellcat and enjoy the engine where it belongs. Because it only costs $60,990 for the manual model, which is insanely cheap for America’s most insane engine.

Looks like a limited production of 1200 vehicles. Dealer markup may put the price way up.

    Propaganda to drive up pre-orders.

Just like the original Challenger remake in 2008. It was all over the forums that you had to order RIGHT NOW! Or the last 10 cars would be sold at any time. Next thing you know there is hundred of them sitting on dealer lots barely being able to be given away.

I hope this one stands out from the rest aesthetically. The trouble with the car is the 6cyl is almost impossible to tell from the SRT8 if you don't know what you are looking at. The Scat Pack looks like it might be an interesting version also.

The best bang for the buck, however, comes in the form of the Scat Pack (which if you wait a while can be had with a Shaker hood scoop). With 485 hp and 475 lb.-ft. of torque, a 0-60 mph time in the mid 4s, 25 mpg highway, Tremec TR6060 six speed with the throwback ball shifter, Bilstein shocks and wider Goodyear Eagle F1 tires – all for just $38,495 – you're getting one hell of a car.

The R/T Scat Pak 392 package is the way to go (if you're not going Hellcat). It is essentially the CURRENT SRT8, re-badged as an R/T. Going up to the SRT8 392 now just gets you a few more luxury goodies, along with the Hellcat front 6-pistons.

Buddy tried to buy one but they aren't in the dealer system to order yet. Will be a cool car for sure.

I'm glad to see this taking off, if only because I hope it causes Chrysler to go, "Oh yeah, now we remember, this is how you generate positive buzz for a car and actually use marketing to generate sales. This feels really good. We should try it more often."

Then apply that acumen to the Viper refresh. I don't want the hellcat engine in the viper, because, honestly, getting 707HP out of an 8.4L V10 should be no big deal. If the computer was unlocked, people with very remedial bolts and an aggressive street tune would be up well past that.

The Viper needs 800 hp now lol
