Those numbers (I'm assuming) are with drag radials....
No way is it running 10s with all season 285s on the rear.
I'm patiently waiting to see some official numbers.
I find it so amusing that the guys over at Camaro5 are in some kind of dramatic episodic loop of endless drama over how the hellcat can't handle, this, that, and it's weight. I feel like these dudes running their mouths over there should be put to the test to see how well they can make their Camaro turn, because for some reason my Charger has better handling than the ZL1, and it's way more comfortable.
Agreed. My 07 SRT Charger handles very well for its size and weight, and there have been dramatic improvements since then. The new Challengers (and Chargers, by the way) in general, and the Hellcat in particular, while not sports and track cars like a Viper or 'Vette, can do some pretty impressive things. The Camaro folks who think they can only go in a straight line are sorely mistaken.
PS - That's one helluva car stable you have there!
I was just advised by a source of a source at SRT, who is glad, btw, that Dodge took them over ("job security" being his reason), that 707 is their "conservative" number, but 730 is the realistic HP for the Hellcat. This marginal bump tends to lend credibility, as does the source, imho.
there is a poster on Challenger talk that has inside information. Not sure how far up the Dodge/Chrysler chain he is but everything he posts has been very accurate.
When asked about how Viper owners will react to the HellCat being the HP king, his response was don't worry, The Viper will regain the horse power crown with the new 2015 Viper.
Guess we will see.
I just saw my first new Z/28 at a local cruise-in tonight. They guy had just picked it up. The carbon brakes with HUGE Brembo calipers make the new Hellcats's look puny, as they did on my Viper (I was parked next to him.) The car is impressive with the outgoing Z06 7.0 liter. I have to ask - for that money (if you're not buying Gen 4!) why don't you just buy a Z06 with that engine. That being said, it was a beautiful car, but I can't see the reasoning. I guess that's why I'm a Mopar guy, because I'd have a Hellcat in a minute!
Thinking about how the plant was shut down for several weeks, how SRT is/was willing to deal on 13-14 Vipers, how the Hellcat has better brakes and a compact SC I just have a feeling a new Viper is under very tight lock and key that is going to show America what the Viper is about. 800+ hp would turn the automotive community on its head.
Maybe its wishful thinking...
What would Vipers w/OEM SC's providing power similar to the power applied to the Hellcat's hemi do to our supercar? 150-250+ minimum increase in HP? Chevy and Ford have maxed out their V8's with that set-up. Our European competitors would then have to justify their $1,200 - 7,500 oil changes/services on cars X2+++ in cost. Who has the supercar then?
I'd love if this were true, but don't we think atleast ONE spy photo or slip of the tongue from an employee would have surfaced by now? What are the chances the SRT race team is concurrently assessing traditional road development and that's why we haven't seen anything? I'd like to think dodge/SRT has pretty tight lips but even rumors off the hellcat surfaced well before it's formal announcement.
Another good vid I enjoyed.
If nothing else, 6 piston calipers are a no brainier for the Viper now.
USA Today article. "No one needs that horsepower ..." LOL

10.85 run against 426 Hemi Chally
On street tires..... Faster than a Gen5 in the quarter.
Gen IV/V have been trapping 125+ since 2008.
A very solid number for the Hellcat for sure! Stock for stock IMO it's a drivers race.
This will sell out quickly...

Still great numbers, but read the small print at the end...
11.2 @ 125 on street tires
10.8 @ 126 on drag radials
What track and DA? Those are solid times for I'm assuming a typical day at that track, not some near freezing thick VHT hero run.

Jalopnik reports...
"Let's put that into context. The Ford Shelby GT500 did the quarter in 11.6 seconds; the Camaro ZL1 did it in 12.1; and even Dodge's own SRT Viper, a more dedicated sports car with a much larger engine, did it in 11.7 seconds."
I would take 11.2 on street tires any day, all day!
Here comes the 850 HP Viper TT request. Might be the only FI that will fit under the hood and allow it to keep it's current footprint.
