200 MPH club @ the mile ( gen IV )

Is there any gen IV in the 200 MPH club at the mile ? ( any mile event, not necessary TX mile).

Not that I know of. Not enough power to get it to 200 within a mile. The only car I know that might be capable is the RSI TT Gen 4.

Highest Gen IV I've seen is 190.

My 08 in stock form did 174. With the 2010 revised 5th gear I'm sure it had 180 in it. 5th sucks in the 2008. With a few mods 190 would be easy but 200 would be pretty dang hard.

Haven't seen one yet. We figure you need around 800 hp at the wheels, to crest 200 mph. 190 to 200 is a big difference, most people underestimate the hp needed to add 10 more mph.

My stock 08 did 171mph at the Texas Mile. After Belanger headers, no cats, straight pipes, Mopar ECU, I did 186Mph with a good tailwind that day. I am hoping to make 190 next year, but it sill be a job for sure. Gearing and new intake should do something to get me there. I am don't think a Gen IV is going to get to the 200mph mark without some serious engine mods.

Just a data example to share, but I ran 3 passes on boost only (approx 900 rwhp) and went 205-206 mph. Then I turned on the nitrous (100 shot, at the time) and only picked up 3 more mph. Above 200, wind resistance is the main factor. 100 hp only added 3 mph (209).

    Sorry, no video.

Here is a video of my buddy running 183 in it from the line.

    http://youtu.be/ix4IetUp1_o

The car at the time dynoed 589hp/534tq and these are STD numbers, knock about 15hp off to compare to SAE corrected.

With the mods done now, it did 608hp SAE. And I did the UD pulley, so I am hoping for 618hp or so the next time I dyno and hopefully this will get me to 190mph.

That is the fastest one I have seen yet... Must be the M&M Performance headers and a real good driver

I agree with Tony, its going to take well north of 700whp to get to 200mph in 1 mile.

Here are my Gen III whp/speeds at the Texas Mile for reference.

    176.6 mph - 500whp
    191.5 mph - 610whp
    195.0 mph - 640whp

345s, what if you changed the 5th and 6th gear in your tranny for lower ones would that help?

Very unlikely. Gearing and the power curve are key. Its all about crossing the finish line at redline. In my case, I used a shorter rear tire (25") to offset the OEM gearing. I was crossing the finish line at 6,000rpm on that 195mph run. Here is what happens if we change gears:

With stock tire, 3.07 final, and a 0.8 5th gear, you would be at 5800 for 195mph (lower rpm,and thus less power under the curve)

With stock tire, 3.55 final, and a 6th, you would be at 6200 for 195mph (sounds like a good combo, but too much gear for 200mph)

Overall, these two options should yield an equivalent results. To me, its not worth the $$$ to end up with the same rpm and overall power under the curve.

    My $0.02

not that I know of but it definitely went over 200. I probably have video of it somewhere, I want to say it ran a 23X.

The ART car above was a Gen 3, with a Gen 4 hood.

I have all your large posts saved to documents in case I ever loose track. This is a really great simple index of what you need to get there.
