MOPAR continues to drop the ball. MOPAR is terribly slow in releasing parts.

You would need an HPTuners interface (standard or pro - I'd highly recommend the pro since it gives you the option to bring in multiple 0-5V sensors (like a wideband O2) and merge the data with what comes off the OBD-2 port) and their software, which includes an editor and scanner. That's it.

Not sure how many credits they will charge for this one, but you get 8 credits with a new purchase.

I definitely agree. We have had our hopes up before only to be disappointed.

Could be available before Hastings. Maybe it will help me finally get around you....

Yes my several boxes of mods just took another turn towards untimely installs lol. I mean seriously now I will want to wait for the Gen V software to emerge instead of buying the new Mopar Race ECU for the Gen V. What a cluster lol.

It sounds to me like this may be a bit different than what people are thinking. While this is the ability to "tune" the G4 PCM, it is a custom shell OS, not based on the OE programming entirely. It may be in part, however. This means that you will have to tune from a blank sheet, much like a Stand-Alone operates. The plus side is that I expect the Bus Systems to stay in tact and it will operate without any physical modifications, the downside is that it will not have the adaptability and expandability of a true Stand-Alone, and simple changes are not going to be simple. I saw this coming a while back, its one of the reasons we stalled our G4 ECU work. After all, if you can write the whole operating system, an OEM ECU is little more than a "Viper Specific Stand-Alone". The capability discovery of the Viper hardware will dictate the direction I take on the ECU we were working on a while back.

I could be off base, the post is a bit fuzzy to say the least.

Either way, this will surely start to bump the G4 market, and make the G5 market take notice as they wait patiently.

I don't get the impression that we'll be starting with a blank sheet in this case, at least not based on the screen captures Keith has shown. It does seem to be a bit convoluted, but I don't think you'll be needing to populate timing tables and the like...that information will already be there, ready for editing/altering as needed.

Just went and read it again. You may be right, he may be referring to everyone needing to start from a common point, which they will be supplying.

Yeah...I asked him specifically about whether or not we'd be able to read out a Mopar PCM, but that will not be possible. On that same line of thinking, if you wrote to a Mopar PCM, you'd overwrite whatever was in there, essentially taking you back to a stock tune/configuration, which I don't think you'd be able to reset back to its original state.

My major concern is what happens if/when you brick your PCM on a failed write - I think he was going to see if the factory tools would be able to recover the PCM if this happens, but that would be an expensive mistake if they no longer worked. Can you even buy new Venom controllers for Gen 4s these days?

On second thought, I think I will hang on to my Perf. ECU.

    Just in case....

I saw the similar thing happen with my Neon SRT-4 and Caliber SRT4. One day the performance PCMs are no longer made. I'm pretty sure I will always keep the Mopar PCM on hand. Someday you will be limited to whatever is on the used market.

I have 1 Mopar PCM still on the shelf.

I agree it will be a big game changer for the gen 4s , can't wait
