What the hell is wrong with people!!!

Well I have to vent. I drove my GTS to work today for the first time this year. (I only take it to work a few times each year) . On my way home driving through the Delaware water gap park (route 209). I come up behind a some clapped out subaru out back with some woman driving window open arm hanging out. Now she is erratic with her speed. Below the speed limit, up to the speed and back down again . After 2 miles of this, I come to a straight section with a good line of sight.
I down shifted to 3rd rolled into the throttle to pass her, well apparently this woman decided I didn't have the right to pass . This fucking asshole deliberately drives her car over into the other lane to block me nearly clipping the front of my car and forcing me over to the shoulder. So now I'm in a full fucking rage because I can't risk another pass and i see her laughing in her side view mirror. Well we come to a four way inter section and catch the red light. I yanked up the E-brake handle, unbuckle the belt and as I reach for the door handle the voice of reason goes off saying " you have to get the kids off the school bus" . So I reluctantly gave this fucktard a pass , made a turn at the intersection and took a different route home.

Now can someone tell me what is the thought process behind someone not letting another car pass them? If someone is driving faster than me (which is rare) I let them go, because if your passing me you must really have to get some where. Im still bothered by this, because 10 years ago (before having kids) I would have made the other choice. Gotten out of the car and left the other person bleeding in the street. I hope she tries this to someone else and ends up in the woods in the process . Why am I sitting here 2nd guessing my decision?

If you were passing legally, you should have gotten the plate and called the police. That's driving to endanger!

Jealous and ignorant and not worried about consequences... unfortunately all too common.

The fact that she was laughing about it shows all 3 elements I think.

no need to second guess yourself though. You will almost always have more to lose than to gain when dealing with an idiot.

Perhaps she is the center of her universe as well as its master and creator.

Or she just nuts...hard to tell.

But you did right by staying clear of her. After all, what does she have to lose?

Folks like that make forgiveness very, very difficult.

I've owned the car since April of 2011 and this is a first for me with this car. Not the kind of attention I want when I drive it. I can see why cars turn into garage queens..

She is just jealous that she was driving some sh!t box, and you were going pass her in a "supercar"! Besides, there isn't anything you could do to her since she was "female". Now if it is a "Male", game on.......

Nothing wrong with getting out to inform someone of the danger they are creating. Just because you are getting out does not mean you have to pummel someones brains in(even though that's what we want to do quite often)

I installed a dash cam in my car because other people do stupid things around these cars...

Anyways, after I'm finished being choked to death by my own sarcasm. I want to share a technique for expressing distaste for someone being a jerk on the road. Flipping them off is just an acknowledgement of a moral victory, this is so much more effective.

People like that are why I want to put in some kind of dash cam.

Some other techniques I have mastered, for messing with people, is waving to them like an idiot. I pretend like I don't realize they are being bholes. If their actions are extremely deliberate, especially when I am driving my DD they floor it just to cut me off and I meet them at the next light... I do the "oh man, you really got me. I never saw that coming." and I just lay it on real thick. Everyone here is so passive-aggressive that forcing them to acknowledge that I am a human being makes them feel extremely tiny.

That's the thing I've waited and worked along time to buy this car. I'm not wealthy by any means. I'm like every viper owner I've met since I joined, everyone works for what they have regardless of income level.

Some people are just assholes. I have a dash cam, actually a contour action cam, that I keep in my vehicles to record with in case I see any interesting things while driving. It also makes a great dash cam. If someone is being a d**k or I suspect that they may be, I turn it on and make sure I capture them. It's even better when I can stick it right in their face to let them know they are on camera. You would be surprised how their attitudes change when they know they are on camera. I consider them lucky. Better to get shot by my action cam than my .45.....

It also saved me from a ticket when a state cop in S.carolina stopped me for " weaving". She was chasing another car that pulled a smokey and the bandit and got off the exit before she could get to them. I saw she was pissed , I was in front of her and I had out of state plates. She pulled me over, told me she stopped me for weaving. I let her know up front that I had a camera going and if she wanted to we could review the video to see if I was indeed weaving, which I wasn't. She let me go without another word. She was still pissed but so what. If not for the camera rolling she would have tried to screw me.

Same here brother, it's easy for people to make presumptions based on an indulgence (hence the sarcasm). That's why when people stare at me, I wave to them. When someone says "hey, nice car", I say "thanks, it's really fun to drive!" If someone takes a picture, I make a funny face or smile.

I had a similar experience in my car. Sitting behind some beat up old econo box turning right at a red light, the light goes green and the car is sitting there. I'm not quick to honk so I waited a few seconds, then realizing they clearly weren't paying attention, I gave a quick tap on the horn, trying to be as courteous as possible. They turn right, I follow but not sticking to their ass. The road we turn onto has three lanes. I switch out from the right lane to the center lane and gas it, they cut over in front of me. I switched one more to the left lane and they jump in front of me again. I switch back to the center and they cut back into the center. At this point I knew they were doing it intentionally, probably pissed about the honking thing and the fact I'm in a nice car. I could've punched it and easily squeezed by them but I figured, screw it, this person clearly has issues and I have more to lose than they do if they try to ram into me. Beside, let them have their road rage. I'm happy here cruising in my car. I'm not going to let them ruin it for me.

Have a Viper in NYC grants me time with exactly this kind of ignorance quite often. After MANY years of this kind of pure crap, I can only recommend that, before you make any move, you ALWAYS take a single moment to consider the risk/reward action ratio. Sure, you're completely in the right ad you'll get your few seconds of "righteousness", BUT you could wind up with damage to your car, some road rage pursuit and/or a court appearance. In the end, it is FAR more intelligent to let it be.

That's not to suggest it's in any way an easy thing to do. It's not and for the life of me, I can't always turn the other cheek. But when I have taken some action, the "feel good time" immediately after is never worth the hours later thoughts of just how consequentially bad things could have been.

The "lesson" you offer when with confrontation is NEVER learned. SO it's all about getting even and you've "arrived at the scene" SO far ahead of the other party that's there's never any real need.

I disagree especially if an ass-kicking is done correctly. I think the lesson is learned when, for example, the idiot who got the beat down shows up to work the next day with his cars' rear bumper shoved up his ass. He then has to explain to coworkers what he did to deserve it. There's a lesson in humility there. But I digress.

I commend CS for taking the high road. It's painful and it feels you left unsatisfied with the situation. No justice. But in this day and age such a situation quickly turns a victim into the instigator. YOU become the bad guy and the idiot walks away. It's not right. Eventually, things come full circle and they will get what's coming to them.

That is a valid exception. I concede the point.
