    Changes from SRT Viper to Dodge Viper

    As the Viper is due to be refreshed in 2015 (calendar year, not model year?) how will the transition look in the car.

    WAG: Immediate removal of SRT badging starting at reopening of production.

    In 2015:

    New Dodge grill and head lights
    New Dodge badging
    No GTS (upscale) model
    New cosmetic pieces, some functional (wing? hood?)
    No upscale options like interior leathers or carbon fiber pieces
    Team Viper no longer exists (no separate facilities)
    Last refreshing - closing of production - Dodge division is in the volume business not in the specialty low volume business
    Anyone with other ideas?

    Gen V's don't have SRT badging. They do have the trim level... GTS says GTS... TA says TA... etc
    Use the Report a post feature... It works!

    Hmm, my Viper has SRT badges on both sides.

    First off, I hope you find your ACR. You are correct, for the last year the viper forums are sounding more like the civic forums. It is just amazing how many ways the same comments can be regenerated.

    And I've heard for certain that the sky will literally fall over Auburn Hills. A column of vacuum will form over Detroit and NASA will take over the space because it will be easier to launch rockets there. The Viper's demise is written in stone, and it will be the government's fault because they have the power to force the purchase of the land around Connor Ave.

    But really, is this all we have on this forums? Negative speculation? Have we all forgotten that the Viper has been a Dodge for over 18 years? My honest speculation is that yeah, it might get some small tweaks in order to at least say 'Dodge' on it, but will remain largely on whatever path it was on before this announcement.

    If you think the Viper will die, you are forgetting what the people did to resurrect it for the fifth generation. It already died and we has people fighting on the inside! So much hard work went into the car, but its also the dedication and pride that will keep the car alive at whatever opportunity exists!

    First off for the guys/gals posting that we don't need to go over the same conversation over and over again, this is what we do here. We converse on forums. Some people do not frequent the firum as much as others and in such do not see many threads and topics that have already been discussed.
    Each thread has its own unique twist to a thought and thus you will find the same topic with different ideas from different people. Variety is the spice of life and incorporating the same thoughts in different sitiuations makes for great insight.
    As for the OP's original thoughts...

    I feel the change back to the Dodge brand, has solved the one mystery a few of us months ago if not years ago had touched on. The fact that the new "SRT" Viper did not have an identity and needed to find itself among its roots as to what it wants to be. I feel that , that has been answered once again with its reaching back to its roots and standing proud with its Dodge logo once gain printed on its side. The SRT brand confused many as to what the Viper really was. The SRT brand was know well with the Challengers, Chargers, Calibers, Magnums, and neons but I don't think many related that brand to the Viper or Jeep for that matter. I believe the Viper was always and will always be know as a Dodge with a V10 motor with performance and brute power as its main traits and identity.
    Keep the Gen V alive, refine it, listen to the people (the ones that count), and market the Viper properly through the Dodge dealers, and the car will once again flourish as it always has as the Halo car of Dodge NOT Fiats second in command (to the Ferrari). It belongs on the podium and is finally back home after a long journey trying to find its self again.

    Welcome home Viper. We missed you. Thanks for finding it SRT and returning it back to us! (S#$T that's sound kinda cool the way I put it)

    No shit they keep posting the same crap. Because nothing new and exciting is happening.

    I mean who wants the car to live on, it has no aftermarket support (because owners don't support it). It has little to no factory support (because not enough people want to buy it). It has lost street appeal because of both above.

    Unless Dodge brings back the wild child that the Viper was(but do it by today's standards)..the car is dead. Sure it's just as quick as the Gen4, but really what is the Gen5. A dressed up Gen4 with a few tweeks. What is a Gen4, a Gen3 with a new drive train. You can only get away with half-ass updates for so long. The Viper is living on the Gen2 memory and to Lesser extent the Gen4 ACR accomplishment. The Gen5 has yet to do anything noteworthy...slightly edging out the ZR1...not really an accomplishment.

    This reads like a post of someone who hasn't driven a Gen V. Pretty big jump from the Gen IV in so many ways (NVH, interior quality / design, exterior quality, handling refinement), just not in the ways that hardcore Viper owners might want (a ton more horsepower, for example).

    At the end of the day, with the same tires as the ZR1, the TA would be probably be 1.5 seconds faster than the ZR1 tested in MT. I would say that it is a pretty big accomplishment that the TA still beat it with the tires it has

    I guess you got tired of the echo chamber at the Alley.

    The aftermarket support is coming. The PCM is inevitable. Forced Induction is on its way as many have talked about. You seem to think people don't want mods because you want people to fork over thousands of dollars to you to develop some magical cam which doesn't exist. It isn't the owners that are the problem...

    Spring is finally here with most of the nation finally thawing out. People are finally driving their cars.

    I had zero interest, like many, in what the Gen IV offered. The Gen V fit my bill exactly. Seeing as how many 1st time Viper buyers there are, sounds like it fit the bill of many of them as well, it just wasn't the car for me.

    Lets not pretend the Gen IV was some huge sales success.

    They just sold nearly 100 Vipers in April, I think that is a good indication things are picking up - hopefully it is the turn around the car needs.

    I think the GEN V with refined technology and quality will open new markets for the Viper and that's what Dodge really wants. It certainly drew me away from Corvettes. I can of course see the point for the hardcore folks as well, the same discussion is going on with Corvettes and taillights etc etc....

    I hurd the viper will now be the (viper demon) cause its so mean and bad, for the new model change along will 25 inch tires to draw a bigger new crowd

    Put Dodge grill and headlights/fog lights and I will strongly consider buying it.
