Reaction to Polished Stainless Valve Cover Overlays

As some of you know, I am trying to improve the look of my engine compartment. In shows, probably lose more points because of my valve covers then anything else...pitted! Not looking to take them and intake off for powder coating quite yet, so for now wanted to add the polished stainless valve cover overlays sold by Roe Racing:

I know they are stickon, which seems tacky, I have seen them on some engines and they look very good...especially with some of the other stainless or billet engine accessories.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks...as always!

Tacky is a great way to describe them. Removing and powdercoating might even be cheaper, sheesh. Or just a little elbow grease, your valve covers can't be that bad.

If you like it then go for it, but personally I can't stand bling on cars The red engine covers make the Viper look mean.

Regarding original question...the answer is "no".

Just take some aluminum polish and get the lettering polished up. Or as suggested in prior posts, powercoat the covers.

Only do it if you want a car show award for best "stick-on" accessories. You will be competing with a Honda Accord that has the Buick style Autozone vent holes on the fenders. Vent holes.jpg

    Looks cheap.

One of the best parts of having one of the older Vipers (i.e, not a new Gen V) is that you have a beautiful, aesthetically pleasing engine bay with real metal everywhere like God intended, rather than being greeted by a wall of plastic garbage when you pop open the hood. No me gusta

I agree with everybody,I have have a couple spots on my covers as big as silver dollars where powder coating came off...I bought a set of the covers because I do a car show once in awhile and they do look better than the valve covers...I wouldn't buy them again but they will have to do until I can get the covers powder coated. Black...see pics

No problems trying different things. Why not? It's part of the fun. (but yeah, doesn't look good. sorry) I tried those stainless steel V10 505 stickers that go on the air box once. Took 'em right off. (anybody want them?)

IMO, it doesn't look good or add any kind of functional benefit. In fact it's just adding a little extra weight. It's definitely not for me.

It only takes about 10 minutes to remove the valve covers. Powdercoaters (or painters) might only have them a day or two. Stick-on stuff never looks good on a performance car. That engine is a work of art even when completely stock.

    Ditch them....

I think they are a "remarkable" improvement over stock. You may want to consider painting "Juan Loves Yolanda" on the tail lights!

Of course I'm enjoying joking along with the others; You left yourself open on that one If YOU think they look nice that's all that matters!

    Enjoy!

Yeah, yeah, I know I left myself open.....but who else do I respect more then club members....to help me decide. I am not looking to make my car look like some kind of tuner car, thought they looked nice in pics. Trying to TASTEFULLY improve the look of the engine/engine compartment without chrome, but using stainless/billet to make it look nicer and keep it's high performance look.

All kidding aside, I am just going to wait til the winter to get them powdercoated. So, how do I know what shade/finish red is closest to stock?

    Thanks guys...really "appreciate" your comments!!!!

I like them… so I have 'em on my car.
    "To each their own."

IMHO, they are high enough quality (and thick enough steel gauge) that they don't look like cheap plastic stick-ons.
