    Help on what to do on my new VIper

    Edited to ask about several upgrades instead of one.

    I just purchased my first Viper. And I must say I couldn't be more happy.

    My plans are to get a full exhaust system down the road. But for now I was curious if anyone has done a muffler delete? I have a local shop that can build me a new cat back that's just a straight pipe. I'd like the car to be much louder than it is now. The corsa videos I've heard don't seem much louder than stock.

    *I removed the factory muffler today and installed a straight pipe. We did this all so it can still be returned to stock. The hardest part was removing the side sills. Which took about 30 minutes per side. The sound has a much better growl at idle. Driving slightly louder. For the money I don't think you can go wrong. Car feels the same performance wise. For a 3rd of what a corsa set cost. I would do this again.


    My second question is what year model Eibach lowering springs work on the 13/14 models? Does anyone know how much they lower the car?


    And lastly I'm going to order a set of wheels. Would y'all recommend a 19/19 combo or would you recommend 19/20? I'm going to do the occasion 1/4 mile outing. But primarily just a weekend cruiser.

    Maybe delete the 2nd cats instead of the muffler delete....it really gave the Gen 4 a nice growl without being obnoxious.

    I put the Corsa cat back on my Gen V and didn't like the way it sounded on the highway (it was great around town). On the other hand, I took the resonator out of the side sill of my Gen III and replaced it with a straight pipe and I love the way that sounds. There's something about the Corsa in the Gen V that seems to use the car itself as a loudspeaker once you get over 70mph on the highway. It would be an inexpensive experiment to simply take the stock muffler out of the Gen V side sill and replace it with a straight pipe. Let me know if you do that.

    I will try the muffler delete this week. If anything we will know it's if it's good or bad at that point.

    Never having the car apart. Do the muffler clamp in or will I have to cut my stock exhaust?

    Clamp, it is painfully easy. Jack B had a good thread on removing the sill and all.

    Would removing the second cats also improve airflow more than a cat back system alone? I'm thinking yes.

    Not sure if removing the muffler will actually affect the performance of the car. Correct me if I am wrong some of you more experienced DIY ers but, would the backpressure be affected with no mufflers and bog up the flow?

    I doubt the muffler delete will have any adverse effect on performance. The cats will still be in tact.

    Does anyone know what year Eibach lowering springs I need?

    I'm not sure your right about that. maybe someone with professional experience can chime in and solve the mystery. I has been something that I have wanted to know for a while as well.

    Updated first post with thoughts on tr muffler delete.

    Does anyone know what year Eibach's I need for the Gen v? I'm assuming the newest model they offer.

    It seems silly that I have to be the first to ask this, but, do you want to post a video of your car with no mufflers to the rest of us crack heads can hear it?? Pretty please??

    Another good option might be to ONLY do headers and catless pipes and leave the factory mufflers in place....that might have a nice ring to it.

    I will try to. I'm not real good at that. I will say my wife went and started the car last night. She commented that it sounds how it should have from the factory. Not to loud.

    Sounds like you like it loud as I do. On a previous Viper I did the muffler delete with headers, high flo cats, and straight pipes, and was very happy with the results. VERY loud!!

    My ACR is currently like this....All 4 cats but no mufflers. The sound is louder and sharper, especially under load. Not bad when cruising. I'm installing a set of headers and no cats, so I'm going back on with a Corsa though.....I like loud but not insane!

    To answer your question Ryan, the GenIV springs will work for the GenV, the GenV spring rates were just marginally increased, you will likely lower about 1/2-5/8" from what has been posted in the past.
