3 pages dedicated to "throttle response"...which has not bothered me in the least. I'm a whole lot more worried about weather this PCM makes 10rwhp, 20rwhp, or 35rwhp. If the throttle response is unchanged I won't complain.
My 08 was terrible. My 10 ACR was not too bad. I figured they had gotten rid of it by now, didn't realize it was still an issue. I have not driven a Gen 5, so I cannot comment on it.
Still no before and after dynos?
They kinda just became available Friday/Monday.... This is Tuesday. LOL.
I got my PCM in the mail yesterday. I am going to try and have it programmed this week and then will "try" to re-dyno this weekend on the same dyno that I used for my completely stock numbers. I will overlay the results and post them as soon as I have them. I will then repeat the process when my AR headers show up. Should be educational.
Will the car start after the PCM is installed? Say in my driveway. Or do I have to have it physically installed at the dealer before initial startup?
Believe is has to be married to the car at the dealer
I hear its cheaper at a vegas dealer![]()
^ Always do![]()
Somewhat related. When I get mine installed soon and get before/after dyno runs in it will be using 93 octane gas that I added fuel stabilizer to. Does anyone know how that stuff affects octane?
I'm surprised no one has brought up lawyers in the discussion of factory throrttle response / torque management. Sadly, I believe the viper was neutered to protect against stupidity. Kind of like an Anti-Stupidity-System, or ASS.
I was under the impression you could order this PCM, it shows up and you could swap out your stock PCM with this one, and you're on your way. Didnt know it had to be a dealer done item. Is it any Dodge dealer or one of the big 3 mentioned here, Tomball, Woodhouse, and Roanoke? Very curious to see the before/after results too, just with PCM swap. I would think you would drive it some with new PCM before dyno but I dont know what strategy Mopar uses. Im used to Ford setups which, at least in my older Mustangs, would learn your driving habits somewhat and control things from that point.

Once the dealer installs the PCM(off road only). There goes your warranty? + if you are in a smog state, will the DMV be notified?
The initial mating of the PCM to your cars VIN is done at the dealer and then a throttle learning. This is not a Mopar part and it comes with step by step instructions so any dealer you trust with the mandatory for Dodge WiTech system can do it. After that it can be swapped at will for off-road driving.
WOT will not change with driving so swapping on the dyno will work also.
As MK said, it's just the initial install (they mate your VIN to the new off road controller) that must be done at the dealer. After that they are plug and play.
Just remember, a good tuner on a dyno with your STOCK Venom 2 controller can get you more RWHP than this generic off-road PCM will get you- and potentially at a lower price...

Dose that mean it will or will no void the warranty?
Thanks
I cannot guess what your local dealer or the zone rep would do. I think it is a very smart tune done by the people that know the limitations of the stock parts of your engine and used responsibly will not accelerate the wear IMO. Anything can break, I would hope that if you had an issue that was documented with the Viper before this was done that it would still be covered, but here again dealers and reps can vary.
I'm in south florida they don't seem to be helpful as far as warranty want to do it. Thanks for your answer as always.
