Is this like the Venom Controller for the Gen IV or different? As some other posts have asked, will this be a canned-tune which takes care of CEL, raises rev limter slightly and has a bit of a change/flexibility on Air/Fuel, etc.? Or will it be custom-tunable and if so, who will be able to tune it?
There will be NO custom user adjustments like was stated elswhere on the forums.
Also, if you do not mind, could you expand a bit on your answer quoted above?
I do not know actual details about any aftermarket tuners working on these, just rumors.
In particular, on an otherwise stock vehicle, running no more than 91 octane fuel, with no more than a Corsa Cat back and stock Cats, what kind of rwhp and rwtrq gains are estimated for the controller?
Each car may be different depending on sensitivity, but 30+ on a stock car is not out of the question IMO.
My understanding was with a Gen IV, the changes to a different PCM controller under the conditions specified would provide little or no change in power. Of course, if you added headers, high-flow cats, etc. then it was possible to hit 40-50+rwhp/rwtrq gains. If you tuned for 93 octane or higher, then some additional gains may be possible.
The controller will give you whatever the fuel will allow, all the sensors still work, they are just more open so if there is no knock there will be no retard or fuel enrichment to protect cats.
The potential gains are especially important in California where we have emissions and equipment checks on change in title and then every so many years which would make it difficult to run non-CARB Certified headers, except for offroad use.
The Belangers have thus far proven to work trouble free on the GenV without the PCM, so I would think that barring a visual check they might pass in California testing although still would be illegal. I'm no expert, but the Belangers being more efficiant and the rear o2's working properly when they plug in should not sound any alarms would it?
Thank you for your estimated thoughts!
