I am new to the 2009 Gen IV ACR still and with work I have not had the free time to use the ACR that much but the past few times I took it out in the hill country or even on the highway for that matter the metal bezel around the shifter, the shifter shaft and the immediate plastic around the bezel gets VERY hot, like you can't put your hand on it for longer than 5 seconds type of hot.
I don't remember the car doing this when I first bought it and drove it home, but it was 40 outside then, it was mid 80s yesterday when it heated up again. Changes that were done between the first drive I had it and now are:
MGW shifter w/OEM 2010 shorter shift ball
ACRX Trans cooler
ACRX Diff cooler
Woodhouse engine and trans mounts (installed and removed soon after because Yvette didn't like the extra vibration)
However even though we switch backed to OEM engine and trans mount it still feels like much more vibration that when first bough it.
The heat on the shifter has me a bit worried but not sure if this is a normal issue with Gen IV or not? Is there insulation that may not have been replaced when the new shifter installed? Any suggestions on the excessive vibration while driving?
Appreciate the help. If I get time tonight I am going to take the bezel off and look down in there for possible glaring issues.
Tomball did all the work so I assume everything was installed 100% accurate. Didn't take it to a Mom & Pop place or anything.
