    Body Control Module

I have a 2017 ACR and I need a new body control module but the issue is the part number for 16 and 17 vipers is not available and there is no ETA. The reason I need a BCM is because my driver side door wont open from the outside latch. After testing the switch, door module, door harness, and BCM the failure ended up coming from the BCM hence I need a replacement (I already ordered a new switch and door module so those were replaced earlier). From what I have seen the body control modules are broken down in 3 groups:

    2016 - 2017: 5035462AA
    2015: 5035398AD
    2013 - 2014: 4692277AH

The part number for the 13-14 seems to have changed a few times but we all know how sometimes the part numbers change but the part and the function remain the same. Does anyone know if one of the other BCM from a different another year Gen V would work? The 15, 14, and 13 BCM are in stock now from mopar and I've even seen a few used ones on Ebay.

Other than size/weight considerations, why would Chrysler develop a completely different BCM than used on the Challenger/Charger? If size/weight was a problem, why not make them all use the most compact unit available (Viper)? Maybe all the air bag electronics made them different.

It's likely the module's hardware is the same as other Chrysler vehicle, but the software is different.

Hopefully you have the Max Care warranty. Then, at least they can document the issue and when the BCM does magically arrive, they'll have to deal with it.

I had some similar issues with the BCM on my '17 ACR-E. Some things with the passenger side door went crazy, and there were some other ghosts in the machine. Keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't go south again.

I dont but the BCM has been ordered, there is just no ETA on arrival. Im lucky and have a good relationship with my service advisor and viper tech at my local dealership so they go to bat for me.

This is going to give me Vietnam flashbacks to the GTO. If the BCM failed on the 04-06 GTO, insurance would potentially consider it totaled because the part was discontinued and impossible to find.

13-14 Did not have air bags in the door so that BCM will not work. I do not know the difference for 15-17

Well that's really good to know. I'll have to do research into the 2015 BCM then.
