    Game Changing Sound System

As all gen 3/4 owners know, the stock Alpine sound system sounds pretty crappy. It's not horrible, but definitely nothing to write home about. Today I pulled the trigger on a new system, and got a Focal component system from my local audio installer. I'm a big DIY guy so I installed it myself, and it was a pretty easy install. Soldered the plugs from the old speakers onto the wires for the new ones, drilled some new holes in the 6.5" speaker location, and mounted the tweeters in the included pods on top of the original metal tweeter covers. I also installed sound deadening material in the doors, though this didn't have too much of an effect, to be honest. Regardless, the sound system is totally transformed and sounds 100 times better. Even better than the upgraded Meridian system in my previous car, a Jaguar F Type R, which was both quite surprising and very nice to hear. My point is, if you want a good upgrade, go get yourself a set of Focal PS 165 FE component speakers and you'll absolutely love it.

Thx, other than new screw holes, it fit nicely to replace the original door speakers?

You need to dremel the inside of the speaker hole a little bit to get them to fit flush because the stock speakers are 6.5" on the front, but they have extra small back ends and most aftermarket speakers are a little too big to fit flush.
