    Battery Protection

I changed my battery yesterday and discovered it was the total wrong size and CCA for this car. I also noticed my battery cover door is totally missing from the trunk, which is awesome. Far more worrisome though, is the fact that the battery seems totally unprotected from the elements. It sits right above the splash panel on the rear of the car and the two large openings on the rear bumper go straight to where the battery sits with zero protection. Is this normal or is my car missing more pieces that are supposed to wall this area off? I’ve looked at pictures of gen 3 Vipers and it looks like it’s supposed to be open like that, but that seems like a really dangerous design.

That's how it is on my Gen 4.

They changed the design on the Gen 5 to an enclosed compartment.

Well at least that's how it's supposed to be haha. Thanks for the clarification!

On the bright side: it makes it really easy to hook up a Battery tender.

I have a pigtail permanently connected to the battery...all I have to do when I'm done driving is reach through the bumper and grab it to hook it back up.

I think Steve meant to say: it makes it really easy to hook up a "Leopard Tail" charger.

I have the Doug Shelby engineering battery door and charger attachment. 30sec to get to battery and a quick disconnect built in for the battery tender.
