    Rattler wheel questions

Looking for thoughts about Rattler wheels being able to handle a viper with ACR Aero under track conditions? Also any one have info on the weight of the wheels?
    Thanks

I think it was discussed and frowned upon.
It also probably has a lot to do with the tires you run (slicks vs street tires), how hard you drive and how many curbs you hit.

I found this weight chart they are a lot heavier than I thought

    Rattler Five-Spoke Wheels
    Front - 26.2 pounds
    Rear - 29.3 pounds

    Venom Split Six-Spoke Wheels
    Front - 24.3 pounds
    Rear - 28 pounds

    Sidewinder II Track Wheels
    Front - 18.7 pounds
    Rear - 23.1 pounds

Wow, I didn't realize SWII were so light.

Are Rattlers forged? That's really heavy for a "real" forged wheel, especially for an 18/19 setup.
C7 wheels are about that (and they're 19/20) and they're cast (facepalm).

edit: Looks like they're about 1lb lighter, but they're also not as wide, (1/2" front and a 1" rear), but they are both 1" more diameter, so yeah, about on part with cast wheels.

piggybacking on this, are the Venom wheels forged? That's what I have, debating whether it's worth getting some aftermarket wheels / sidewinder

When SRT was testing the ACR on track they were cracking wheels due to the downforce. (I have a friend that is an SRT engineer and one of their hot shoes.) This is why they went with a heavier stronger wheel. Having said that I have used both Venom and SWII wheels on my ACR-E. My SRT engineer friend told me to check them regularly for cracks though but so far no problem.

I have been using the SW 2 on my car for the track. I do inspect them regularly and have not had any issues either, it’s amazing how much lighter they feel to me then my venom wheels

My front ACR wheel cracked during an autocross. Had it welded and been fine since. Almost every ACR owner I know, that tracks, has cracked a front wheel. Not sure how much of it is due to tracking/aero downforce vs. the terrible roads we daily drive on. I'm quite confident I know the exact pot hole that cause my wheel crack.

Must be your roads or maybe its because I switch between 4 sets of wheels - SWIIs, Venoms, and 2 sets of ACR wheels.

When your sidewalls are about the same thickness as a rubber band, and the rims are as wide as they are - anything more than about a 1" tall, or deep abrupt road surface change is going to imperil your expensive tires and wheels. The ACRs come from the factory with a LOT of negative camber in the front, so that makes it most likely that you will damage the inboard flange/sidewall first.
