    Chrysler R and D Gen 4 Heads

I happened to come across some heads that are listed as Chrysler R&D Gen 4 Heads. They have some obvious differences: header bolt location, rocker stands are flat, intake port is almost flat to the head, etc to the production heads. Does anyone have any information on heads like these? They look like a cross between a Gen 3 and Gen 4 head, which would make sense if it was in R&D. IMG_3472.jpgIMG_3473.jpgIMG_3467.jpg

Would recommend just reaching out to Richard Winkles at Prefix directly. If anyone remembers the background you would have to think he would if it was a factory piece.

those look to have more in common with a gen 2 head than a gen 4/5. No injector bosses, rocker bosses are different, gen 2 style exhaust ports. Does look like gen 4/5 square intake ports but bolt pattern different. Would be interested to know what the intake for these heads looks like.

I think the combustion chambers look more like a Gen 4/5. Larger intake valves for sure.

Believe it or not, these do actually appear to be a development piece.

The design is Gen-3 based, but it is purposely over-cast to allow modification. They appear to be a development casting, set up with Gen-4-like chambers, Gen-3-like port connections, and designed for a generic shaft-mount rocker design so things can be moved around.

Like most development parts, these should have been destroyed, and USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
