My right side headlight assembly is getting replaced this week. When I turn on the high beam it gets stuck and will not return to low beam. Otherwise it works fine.

Anyway, while my car is still under MAXcare until 2024, and it has all of 2,540 miles on it, somehow it's not covered under warranty as it is considered a 'light'.

My dealer has had it in stock for a couple of months now and I'm finally getting it there to be replaced. $1,200.

I think I want to keep the original. Maybe(?) it can be repaired.

That's messed up, I think that should be covered. I know under the Zurich extended service protection I offer to our customers, it would be covered.

You should look into that further. Sounds like it should be covered.

That’s why my dealership sold me the Platinum warranty instead of the Max Care as it covers more and is cheaper.

My Gen3 did the same thing

I did it with the headlight removed, but I'm sure it could be done just by removing the cover while still in the car.

    Screwdriver points to solenoid plunger.

On a whim I called my parts guy at the Dodge dealership I use, had him look up the window regulators and he said he can get both left and right shipped there around the 24th of September.. $700 each.. I had him order them and we’ll see if it actually happens being that they are on back order.. fingers crossed….

Hopefully it’s not like when you order parts online only to get a follow up email stating they can’t get the parts and you can wait or get a refund for what your credit card was charged.

Nice, congrats. Getting the part is the biggest challenge!

That's what happened with me, initial date was June 20th, then July 15th, then Aug 19th, haven't called back yet to see what the latest timeline is but prob won't since I can see the date going past again

If they do come in, see if you can reinforce them so that they last forever. It's clear where the weak zone is, so reinforcing that area would be the first thing I do.

If the regulators do come back into stock, I'm going to get a set even though my car is still under Max Care.

The way I understand it, if the bulb burns out, then it's not covered. But, if it's the electronics or electrical system that controls the light, it IS COVERED. I'd argue this like crazy. It sounds like it's the control solenoid that's broken, and solenoids are part of the electrical system.

I think what I’d do if they happen to come in is put the new ones in the car and send the old ones out for reinforcement/repair… when the new ones break, which could be years with the times I drive the car, put the reinforced ones in and then send the new ones in for repair..
once those come back I’d likely sell them to someone needing them. I just don’t want to take mine apart to send off for repair and car sits for however long that whole turn around will be.. but that could change..

That would be a good plan - but I still have around two or three years left on my Max Care. If some came in, I'd work the crap out of the windows, see if they break, and then have the dealership put brand new ones in. I hate pulling the door panels off - it's a pain in the butt...

I went through this a couple of months ago. I was told that because it is a sealed unit, it is considered a light. Therefore, not covered.

The Max Care warranty has no value if they can't get the parts. By the way, window regulators break unrelated to mileage or usage. Wayne Raul (you know he and his wife D'Ann own like 80 Vipers) had two cars with bad regulators and each car has less than 500 miles on them. He fortunately had the regulators.

I have a friend that has ZR-1 C7 and needs a new front splitter and has been waiting from GM for a year and six months with no expected date yet. It is ridiculous that we can't get standard wear parts for our cars. An oil filter, Please it can't be that hard.

This is true. My Gen3, which uses the same regulator, has 100k miles and has both original regulators.

Makes you wonder what causes the failure, damaged during install? friction in the window tracks? windows stuck from non-use? software bug? or the regulator itself is a poor design?

My parts guy tells me that there are now 85 regulators of both sides on back order. Nothing he sees says there is an ETA. Nothing in production, nothing in packaging. He says that any date given for delivery of the regulator is wrong. Time for a letter writing campaign.

I just reached out to a couple of engineer friends at SRT to see if they would raise the issue of parts availability to whomever is responsible for parts.

My friends usually respond even if it is to say "can't help with this". You may remember when there were like 3 owners on here that had their engine warranty claims denied because they had the Arrow controllers. We all knew the controllers had nothing to do with the failures, it was debris that wrecked the bearings. I reached out to my friends and they put the issue in front of the head of warranty and it was resolved. Not saying that this will happen this time but one can hope.
