    New Toy

I've wanted a fun car to drive on the street since I sold my ACR. Decided to beg/borrow/plead with Ford to get one of the 2022 GT500 Heritage cars.

They all come in Brittany Blue Metallic, I opted for the painted Wimbledon stripes and Carbon Fiber Track Package cars. Should be a fairly low run number. Stupid money for a Mustang...especially one at 4200lbs+.

    For those that aren't familiar. 5.2L V8, Supercharged, 760 crank HP, 625 ft/lbs torque, DCT 7-Speed Transmission.

    Never thought I'd buy a $115k Mustang.

Congratulations on a fantastic purchase! I was lucky to be at the launch/media event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. We did a few runs down “The Strip” -the quarter mile one with a tree, not the other one.

Of course, the cars shined there. But we also did laps on the road course and the car was absolutely amazing there as well, which I was not at all expecting. Razor sharp turn-in, forever brakes, easy to control both trail braking in and under power on exit. Astounding, given their weight.

We also got to enjoy a detailed rundown hosted by the engineers on the many interesting solutions they’d come up with to make the car so good. I really enjoyed that part; they had various cutaways showing suspension bits, airflow and such. It ain’t easy keeping that monster ‘mill cool!

OK, it’s not a Comp Coupe or ACR, but it’s still really really good, and a pussycat on the street. Get used to seeing the Low Fuel light. Ha!

I have some photos from the event. PM me if you’d like me to send them your way.

Thanks! It likely won't see any track time, but it'll be fun!

I just emailed you about 20 photos. There were a couple of higher-ups from Shelby American there, including one fellow that I believe worked extensively with Carroll in the 1960's and '70's. Let me know if they don't arrive. I have some short videos that I'd be happy to send as well but they're too big for email. PM your mobile number and I'll text them to you.

    That's pretty sweet!

I would love to find a clean 68/69 and retro-mod it.

Badass dude, congrats! Did you see the orange one that went for $175K on BAT a couple days ago? https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...tang-gt500-49/

Yeah that's crazy. That orange one had an MSRP of $95k or so.

I think I could roll this one for $200k on day 1...but it's not really about the money.

Figured a Ford dealer should have a fun Ford!

Beautiful cars. Good choice on the color combo. This is on my short list of potential DD's. Probably opt for only a few ooty, though.

Can't wait to see some delivery photos.

Any other GT500's on your lot for a good price? lol

I had all 12 of my 22s sold in about 15 minutes when the order guides came out. This one was an additional, extra.

I can reach out if I come across another one though.

Great looking 500 Cobra, and I have to imagine Fatboy gets plenty of notice with his Comp Orange Stang in Jolly Ole England. I have had my share of Mustangs, and I get quite a bit of flak for it , but there were always Fords on my mom's side of the family since they were distant relatives to Henry! Dad's side of the family were bona fide Chrysler Corp. fanatics and it seems I have always had more than my fair share of Pentastar products. The garage at present is a good example , 3 from what is now Stellantis and one Blue Oval machine ( Mustang ), but not as nice of one as you just acquired Cobra Man - just a Mach 1 with a measly 480 hp at the flywheel.

Those Mach 1s are awesome. I'd grab a Mach 1 over a GT350. I know Ford pushed the 350 as the ultimate road racing car, but in reality the midrange torque of the 5.0L in the Mach 1 make it superior on most tracks.

Just had that discussion today. The Mach 1 I'd a great car and seems like more than just the sum of its parts. Contrary to belief it's not just a stickered GT.

What's the time frame from order to receive on a new Mustang?

I'd guess about 12 weeks. That's what we're seeing right now anyways.

After I posted that I called a local dealer and they said about the same thing.

However, they do have a new 2021GT500 still in the showroom. Anything with the 2021's to look out for?

Already sent them my vin and miles to see about trade.

    Nice!

Nope, same as the 20s and 22s. Stout cars!

What are they selling theirs for? I still see dealers advertising the 2021s for $15-20k over MSRP.

    You won't effing believe this.

Sticker $83k. Advertising it at $95 down from $99k but when I inquired they want $111k. Salesman is a complete dickwad who talks shit. Seriously would like to scissor kick him in the back of the head.

I asked and he says $25k+ is normal over sticker.

Congrats on the new GT500! That is the exact car I want, but I’m having a tough time landing one. Guess I’ll just have to settle for the Tungsten Silver Stripe FGT I just picked up to hold me over.

If you come across another, let me know.
