    New Sidewinder II on Gen 4 with PS4S not sure

    Been a while since I've posted. I fell in love with the Sidewinder II on the Gen 5 and finally had the chance to pick up a pair. Hopefully not buyers remorse - but the offset on the front looks a bit different to me as they stick out. Last pic is looking straight down for reference. I did go with a 295 front which may add to the look a bit? I have not been out on the road with the PS4S yet - and am sure I am going to love them.

    I have Gen 5 rims on my Gen 3, they stick out just like yours, doesn't bother me at all....

    That’s by design. The Gen 5 fronts sit 0.5” further out of I’m not mistaken. I’m sure you’ll get used to it…might need to space out the rears to help a bit.

    I have the same wheels on my Gen 3 and love them. When you say "might need to space out the rears to help bit"... what do you mean?

    The Gen 5 front wheels sit further out, but the fenders on the Gen 5 are wider to match, so it looks "normal" on those cars. That's why when a Gen 5 runs earlier gen wheels (like from a Gen 3/4), they look like they are tucked in too far, as seen here:



    The rears, however, I'm pretty sure are the same offset as the Gen 3/4 cars.

    So with Gen 5 wheels on a Gen 3/4, the rears will be tucked a little (as in, not flush with the fenders), but the fronts will look like they are sitting flush or even a little proud of the fender. You could fix this if you added a spacer to the rear wheels to get them to sit a little more flush with the fender, but only if it bothers you.

    The Forgestar F14s on my car are 18x11 up front, and sit a little past the fender. The rears are closer to being flush. It took me a while, but I just got used to it, and now it no longer bothers me.

    You only really notice it when you are looking down the side of the car from either directly in front or directly behind.

    Hopefully that rambling makes at least some sense.

    Hey I know that car. I was just using up some tires already mounted on Gen 3 wheels at the track. Just for reference I ended up with 3/8" spacers up front after I put the stock Gen 5 wheels back on the car to make it look right.

    No worries , we slapped on many Sidewinder II rims at Woodhouse for customers who purchased them for their Gen IIIs and Gen IVs with no concerns. I commend your choice of the 295s, because the only reason the 275s were used ( according to some unnamed Engineers ) on later models was to induce a bit of push, considered a safety factor for average drivers. Ford did the same thing with Mustangs, often putting tiny little bicycle tires up front so it acted like a snowplow turning at higher speeds.

    The car looks great, and this is the time of the year in Cactus Country to go topless , so go scare some Corvettes.

    I personally prefer them tucked, but it’s all about what you like. The black finish looks good against the white paint and black top!
