In the old days racers use to cut grooves into the slick for wet tracks.

Looks like Kumho had that pre-planed with the 720 ACR tires??? Cut on the Dotted Line???

Yes back when snakes had legs you had to groove slicks to make wets; Thank god those days are gone and you can buy wets for just about anything and even different compounds in some cases. Now the only people who still "groove" or should say " re-groove" tires are dirt track guys, sprints, late models and dirt mods. What you see there on your tire is probably tread support or a fix for edge degradation, either way your getting more tire and more tire is almost always more better
